they are still in clothes from the 1980s
polo shirts tucked into chinos or cloured( tan) jeans
TOO short trousers
logo t shirts wiht something entrepid on them
boring
is being in the army and style mutually exclusive

Agree, they are usually very conservative.
Don't know the meaning of the word "edgy".
Poss afraid of getting slagged off if they took an interest in fashion as not very macho. Or something.

Hmmm happen to know of one very trendy RAF officer .. but having lived in sandhurst for quite a while.. I'm sure it's some sort of civvi dress code guideline...

Used to work on a RAF base - no one wore anything trendy in case they were thought of as 'poofy'

least metrosexual place I've ever worked

Do they wear really humming aftershave as well? Old Spice sort of thing?

DH is army officer and I'm afraid to say does have a penchant for checked shirts (tucked in) with sleeves rolled up, which is quite sexy IMO. Has killer body underneath.

Does also have a tan boot but no labrador.

Honestly has no interest in fashion just like most of his civvy mates.

I'm not particularly 'edgy' infact I shop at Gap or Next so I am pleased he looks like an old fart as it makes me look slightly more modern than him.

Sounds like you WANT to keep him looking frumpy FJ.
Cant say I blame you

Like Caitlin Moran saying that in Miss World if Miss UK wore a UK themed dress, it would be a raincoat, wellies and a chocolate lab called Honey
whereas Miss India gets a gold sari etc etc

I assume when you work for an organisation that dictates your outfits all the time, the style bit of your brain must atrophy.

Well this bloke sounds perfect for my pal.
How can she meet him?

Army blokes are well fit.
We live on the edge of a huge cantonment. There are some amazingly aesthetic sights every day-hundreds of immaculate soldiers marching down the road at once, that sort of stuff.

Dh got qute upset last time we were out.Our hostess's daughter is married to army chap and he accused me of spending entire evening asking envious questions about his levels of fitness and stamina.

Thankfully DH is navy and therefore has style.

The army do seem to live in different shades of dirt...

Perhaps it makes it all the sweeter when they peel off the polo T+chino combination...revealing lush toned bod.

Thus utilising the element of surprise.
