Maternity dress...... but not pregnant!

I've fallen in love with a maxi dress from a maternity range ...... but I'm not pregnant! I'm fat, yes, but not preggers! It's from a well-known high street shop but should I just think 'sod it, I love it' and wear it with pride?!! Honest advice sought, please.

Buy it, buy a belt.

I fail to see a problem

If only! That's wishful thinking, I'm afraid. If you'd like to judge, it's the green floral maxi dress in Next's maternity range. Many thanks.

There's a non-mat version here

It's lovely, and a complete bargain, by the way

I like it. Why does it have to be a maternity dress? Looks perfectly normal to me.

I recently bought a lovely grey waterfall cardigan in Mamas and Papas because I loved it (and am not currently pregnant) and found myself sticking my tummy out in order to give myself credence to the woman in the fitting room!

One hting to remember is that if you don't have an actual bump, the hem at the front of the dress will/may be lower than at the back.

Depends on how your weight is distributed. When I have tried on my mat dresses when not pg, they dip right down at the front hem, because there is no bump and they are cut for having extra material there.

TThat one you like may be fine because of the ruffled bottom - go try it on and see, no-one needs to know it's maternity. If it fits, wear it!! :-)

I still wear maternity tunics from my first pregnancy. I spent a small fortune on them, no way am I wearing them for just 5 months then chucking them out!
