Do you like this dress? & would you wear it to a wedding??

Ok so this is the dress

I thought I really liked it, but now I'm doubting myself had a baby 2 months ago & am heavier than I've ever been (well, I never got round to losing all the "baby weight" from DC1 then put on over 4 stone with this baby!! ) so sense of style is non-existent!

Do you think the dress is too white to wear to a wedding? If so, any other suggestions for dresses please, preferably no more than about £50.

If you think it's wearable, what accessories could I wear with it? Was thinking of maybe going with a bright colour for jewellery/bag/shrug etc to take away from the whiteness, but no idea what colour or where to get such things from!!

I'm 5'5", size 14/16, brown hair, pale skin (been too long since last holiday!), jelly belly, not great legs so dress can't really be any shorter than just below knee, I'm breastfeeding but baby wont be at wedding so accessibility not really an issue...I sound great don't I!! Oh and wedding is at start of May...help needed, I'm clueless!! Thanks

i think it is lovely but it is white

however, no-one would mistake you for a bride in it

you need to fake tan if you wear it

Well I like it (not that i know anything about fashion though!) and I don't think it looks too white at all so don't worry about that.
Love the price too

Do you suit yellow? I don't so would shy away due to that, but if you do, maybe get a yellow shawl.

Even in May it can be chilly so you'll need something (assuming UK wedding).

I would think positive thoughts about someone wearing that to my wedding

I like the dress
But accessorize with a different colour than the white
What colour are the fish?
Shoes, wrap, bag etc
What does it look like on? is the main thing
Do you feel good in it?

It's lovely and certainly wedding-friendly. Ideally it would be good to get a bright/warm yellow cardi to accessorise, but might be difficult to find something that matches.

At that price, I'd buy it then go round the shops holding it up against various different coloured accessories.

I think it's a lovely dress and the pattern stops it from being too white.

Just noticed the price too, what a bargain!

What bright colour where you thinking of? Gold would work. A bit of light fake tan to take the edge off any milkiness wouldn't go a miss either.

As long as you are not wearing a white wedding dress I think it's fine
I used to wear a cream suit to weddings with a lovely white feathered hat and never thought anything of it
(now wonders if was a disgrace and all the old ladies were gossiping about me behind my back)

Thanks everyone

Not sure what it looks like on yet - ordered it online last night then started panicking that it wasn't suitable to wear to the wedding...will wait for it to arrive & hope that it looks nice on/suits me

So do you think that the yellow colour of the fish is the only colour I should really accessorise it with? I normally wear more blues/greens, although can wear yellow, so was thinking of maybe going with a completely different colour...like I said I have no sense of style tho!

Did think I'd need fake tan too...any recommendations?? Pre-children I used to go away on holiday lots so always had some kind of tan, and post-children I haven't found the energy to really care enough about my appearance...decided it's time for that to change!

Lovely dress, am tempted to order it myself. It looks like it would be very flattering.

It is hard to say from the picture what shade of yellow it is. I would go for black accessories, or gray.

I have had great success with johnson's holiday skin, the moisturiser with fake tan thing. And it's cheap. Others prefer dove. They are good for pasty British skin though.

It is lovely, fresh looking, would be very nice for a wedding, you just need to feel good in it, I think you could wear it with black/gold accessories... white/tan/gold or yellow shoes.

I love the dress & am V tempted to order it myself! I think a yellow cardi or wrap would look lovely.

I use Ambre Solaire Non Streak spray tan, it's great as it dries quickly & goes on pretty evenly if you exfoliate 1st.

Try Superdrug or Asda to buy it - much cheaper than Boots!

Enjoy the wedding

slightly different but fine if you are a vegan

gold kitten heel if you are not happy in high heels.

black and gold though I don't like the patent.

I like these best, and they are only £25 !

Love it!

Sort of thing that I think would flatter.

And at the sale price-for that price I´d make it fit/look good

i agree - yellow cardi from H&M will cost you about a tenner

New Look also good

have a look in TK Maxx for a yellow bag - less popular colours often go to clearance

black or yellow shoes

classy subtle fake tan

sorted

BTW are you sure you wont need to feed your 3 month old baby? is it a very short wedding??

Thanks everyone, feeling more reassured that this dress will be ok now

Will wait for it to arrive then check out H&M etc for accessories once I know what shade of yellow it is. Already have black shoes & cream shoes so hoping one of those might work as have rubbish feet to buy shoes for!

KristinaM my DCs aren't invited to the wedding so my Mum will look after them while we go...am working on getting DS to accept a bottle of expressed milk - he's resisting so far but seems to be getting slightly less distraught by the idea than he initially was! obv if I can't get him to accept one then I wont be able to go to wedding, but suppose will be nice to be able to leave him for a few hours occasionally so am persevering with it for now!

I think it's perfect, but would steer you towards wearing dove grey with it! I'd avoid yellow accessories like the plague!

black shoes should be fine, better to wear ones you know are comfy that new ones anyway

since this is a style and beauty thread i will not give my views on anyone who expects a mother to leave her 3 month old Bf baby behind. its not like they will be taking up a space at dinner.............

good luck with the expressing. i was rubbish at it. two of mine took bottles ok but the others refused point blank bloody minded like their father

Black shoes and blue/gray cardi or wrap would look lovely.

I would not go for more yellow, neutral colours would be better.

vesela · 23/03/2010 12:26

I also think dove grey/blue grey would look good - it'll set off the yellow fish better.

Another vote for pale grey shoes and accessories. Will look lovely.

Has anyone ordered form Fever before? What are the sizes like - do they come up big or small? (sorry for hijack!)

I echo Shopalot, after seeing the link I've been browsing and there's quite a few bits I like.
I'm an 8/10 but never know which to go for.

I rather like it. Be sure to wear fishnets with it
