My boss is due in two weeks time - what's the best/latest "must have" for both mother and daughter?

body stuff from mama mio maybe? for the baby my favourite thing was a hand made blanket that had taken my friend ages, but I would have loved something cashmere from Brora (if there are a lot of you clubbing together)or if it is just you buying how about a little sleepsuit from petit bateau or a beautiful hat is always good as it makes the baby look so cute when you are out and about, when they are in a sling in cold weather the hat is all that gets seen.My dd was a Winter baby and we had a couple of very cute knitted hats that everyone commented on.

I was given the a fab hamper of Clarins stuff and my daughter received a beautiful "bouquet" of flowers which were actually babygros, socks, hats etc - I cannot remember where they were from but they were gorgeous

Someone bought me a lovely, lovely set of Sanctuary bath stuff which was fab.

DD was given a hand knitted cardigan and hat which was fab, as well as some letters to spell out her name from Jojo Mama Bebe, which are now on her door. Practically we got a lovely hooded bath robe from Mothercare and a great snazzy mobile for the cot which she still uses (10 mo)

My best gift was a full roast dinner delivered piping hot on a tray with a side boat of gravy. Don't think that's what you were after though really - but you did ask

Classic FM for babies CD, used to send us both to sleep. I still love it. Otherwise for me it was definitely large tins of choccie biscuits.

If you are buying for the baby I would urge you to check your dates with clothes sizes and seasons. We got a load of summer dresses in August for a 3-6 month old baby?! Anyone else dress their newborn in cotton short sleeve dresses at Christmas?! Needless to say they were a terrible waste.

I got some gorgeous clarins body cream and can't remember but these were a lovely present which cheered me up no end after several sleepless nights from the lovely nurses at my husbands work.

The best present I got was a massive box of Bonpoint clothes - most the current season's stock . It was from someone I had never even met! Absolutely fabulous!

Best thing I was bought was 2 blankets from Primark! DS loves them, they have been washed sooo many times and are still as soft as they were originally...but yes maybe something in cashmere would be better!!

Have to second the Brora stuff - got a hat from someone - dd 2 still wears it now and has done since birth, (not everyday obviously!) or a blanket in a fun bright colour to put in the buggy - fleecy and cosy - I actually made one for a friend and she takes it everywhere - for the buggy, sitting in the park etc - it wasn't actually that big either but her dd loves it.

Got a voucher for one of those hand/foot print things that you can get done in John Lewis (and prob other places, i guess)
It is lovely, but would not have afforded it myself. It hangs in DD's room now.

For DD Brora blankets are absolutely lovely. Really soft and beautiful. Also the basket of babygro flowers is nice too - I think you can get them from John Lewis.

Mini Boden has lovely baby stuff now too.

For me the yummiest thing was Laura Mercier Creme Brulee souffle body cream which is truly delicious.

If it was someone you were close to I'd suggest home made vouchers giving her time to have a shower, or go for her hair done etc. while you watch the baby but as it's your bosses wife the LM cream is lovely.
