'Tis true around here. More so
in summer.

Really gone off it myself.

I have nothing from White stuff and am a certain age (certainly over 40)

i have nothing from white stuff. or the white company, for that matter.

Well I like it but it is becoming a bit of a cliche. It is so easily recognisable, like Boden really. But what should a woman of a certain age be wearing..? I don't have the time to trawl the shops for 'effortless chic'. White Stuff sort of do it for you...

I wear loads of Boden 'cos it's easy to order and I can't get to the shops. I used to order from White Company but not any more - things get LOST and then they ignore your emails.

Where do you get your casual clothes from Aitch? As much as I am going off White Stuff it IS easy to find stuff I can wear there. I want inspiration for new places to shop.

Oh yuck, yes they are a bit twee with all the 'lovely' shit...

I'm top to toe in White Stuff today... again. I can't help it. It's because I'm so lovely, it must be.

White Stuff is not party wear, surely? Praps summer BBQ wear, casual like. But not party. White Stuff is OK but it's too middle aged, middle of the road. Like Fat Face. Both of which are the equiv of M&S in our mothers' day.

Ummmm inspiration - I have none. If I was going to a party and wanted something new I'd go to H&M. I am 35+.

hmm good point. where do i get stuff from? i bought some bits from wallis when cod went on a recommending spree last year and it all bobbled, pretty much so that's a fail from me. i get bits from gap and i often like the 60s bits from limited collection at m and s. but i don't know if i do casual, in that wafty boden-y english way.

Disclaimer: I wear a fair bit of White Stuff stuff too. It depresses me a bit.

Party stuff I find easy. I have a few Reiss and Whistles outfits that can be adapted for most dressy events. It's smart casual I struggle with. In summer I do rely on White Stuff alot, in winter it's just jeans and Jigsaw jumpers or Gap shirts. So dull.

I'm going to a party next week and I'm going to be wearing a White Stuff dress.

What are the alternatives? Wallis (vom). Next? Everyone is always in Next round where I live (Derbyshire), not many do White Stuff. I am a total trendsetter.

Not that much White Stuff in Cheshire, either.
Must be a more southern phenomenon.
Agree with Puppy,Wallis awful atm,Next very common here,New Look/Dorothy perkins/Topshop only very occasionally do I see something, usually very basic.Hate Polyester dresses.
I do White Stuff but mixed with Autograph,French Connection,Kew,Noa Noa,Warehouse, etc etc.

Oh dear, I have a few White Stuff bits and I am 28!

But I have no idea where else to shop, I don't like Next, kind of like Oasis but it is very over priced for high fashion crap, M&S confuses me, though I am liking their Indigo collection, I feel too old for Top Shop, DP, NL etc, doesn't leave much else (though don't really know what I am talking about as I rarely have money to shop and most clothes come from Primark, ebay, charity shops.

Have never seen anything in White Stuff that called out to me (am 35). Ditto Fat Face and Next.

French Connection stuff can be good for parties but it's really overpriced.

Gap sometimes has decent smart-casual stuff, but the cut can be pretty boxy. But I do think it's better since they started doing specific collections for European shops (sounds v poncy but is an improvement over just selling same stuff here that they sell in the USA).

Autograph and Limited Edition sometimes have good pieces. I'm wearing some Autograph trousers now that I like. This is a hard time of year to buy clothes in as it's still cold but the shops are full of spring stuff.

until this thread i had never heard of it.

i'm 33, so does that mean i'm yet to be dragged into it?

Am a bit depressed that White Stuff and Fat Face are considered the M+S of our mothers' day. I am way cooler than my mum ever was... aren't I?
