Want to get DW some for Valentines - the interlocked C logo ones. (I don't like them, but she does so.....)

Any recommendations for where to buy?

Chanel shop on Bond Street? They are uber expensive though.

Selfridges in Manchester and London, Chanel store on New Bond St...You have to ask, earrings are all hidden away in drawers. Some of the bigger ones are clip-ons - they are not all for pierced ears.

I was hoping for mail order if possible. I couldn't find them on the Chanel website, it's a triumph of style over content.

You can't actually buy anything off the chanel website .

I've no idea about mail order. Can't you tell her that you no longer buy into the valentines consumerist society and you refuse to line the pockets of Hallmark/Clinton cards in order to show her that you love her as you do this all year round anyway? You shouldn't need nagging by shops to show her you care, do it off your own back any day you please.

this isn't lining the pockets of Hallmark cards, it's lining the pockets of Chanel

Nobody wants to feel left out....

Yes, but you'll have to get a card etc...

Do something for free, a picnic. Save the chanel earings for the week after so they are just an 'I love you' gift rather then 'It's valentines so I should get you something' gift.

they are pretty shit actually, £300 and made out of steel, not even silver.

(going off the idea).

I wonder if I could get some fakes made out of white gold when I'm in Indonesia next month.

Farking hell, buy her a radley handbag, cheap at half the price. Pandora charm bracelet instead with a few charms? Then you can buy her the odd one here and there so she could be spoilt more then a couple of times a year (not meaning to say that you are stingy of course )

I don't think someone that would want Chanel earrings would be the sort of person to carry a Radley bag.

You can buy online from Tiffany's official shop, I would imagine someone who likes the Chanel earrings would also like these

but if she has asked specifically for the Chanel ones I would get her those. You could try calling the Chanel shop directly or I know bespoke shoppers would be able to get them and send them to you but don't know what their charge would be.

FWIW I prefer the Tiffany's ones, it's hearts, innit, for Valentine's Day, and they've got diamonds inside - what's not to like? Plus better value (if such a term can be applied to a place like Tiffany's!!) than steel.

actually she had her eye on the Mulberry Charlie www.mulberry.com/#/storefront/c5485/4283/category/

That's got to be better vfm than Chanel.

Ugggh @ Radley bag and Pandora bracelet.

At least the OP's wife has some taste.

It was a suggestion. Why splash out on someone because it's expected of him to do so? Shouldn't he want to do this off his own back?

Please don't get her the chanel earings - every prostitute and teenage shoplifter I have ever met has sported these (tis the work I did!)

Alternatively, if you must Roman Road market does a lovely line in them - and will save you about £297.

I wouldn't pay £300 for a pair of steel earrings even if I were the sole winner of the Euro Millions jackpot on Friday.

That's just treating your customers like suckers.

I'd get her the earrings she has asked for you know, the items she actually wants, and has actually specified
not what you think she would like or what you think she should have.

So what if you don't like 'em you're not going to wear them are you?

expatinscotland · 08/02/2010 20:32

Well, I don't play it so it's all yours to share with nancydrew.
