Am shortly to go and see the people at George, presenting company credentials. (Small market research agency).

I don't shop at ASDA, so don't see much of George stuff - although I have bought a few nice pieces from there over the years.

What is your considered view on stuff from George - i.e. quality, fashionability, price etc. Do you think it's got better/worse over the years? (Personally I think it often looks really shabby and not especially on trend these days).

I know there is some snobbery about supermarket clothes on MN - but how does George stuff stack up with Tesco/Sainsbury ranges?

Any words of wisdom would be much appreciated. I need to go and see them with a 'view'! I'm off to have a look at my nearest ASDA once all this bloody snow disappears - but I'm also not really a fashionista, so very much welcome your expert views!

TIA

Has improved over the last few years but quality still not great. Wouldn't expect to get much wear out of it. I'd rather pay a bit more for better quality. They need another range - like Tesco do Florence and Fred.

Tesco better quality but not as trendy.

Do you see George as trendy? I thought, last time I was in ASDA, it seemed much less so than I remembered it.

Well, as supermarket stuff goes it is. Some stuff has been linked on here that has looked quite nice.

I would say that George has gone down the nick. A few years ago the stuff was fairly good quality but has deteriorated in the past few years. Wall-mart taking over maybe one of the reasons -they may have changed suppliers.

Thanks. Off to have a look at their stuff online.

I assume they carry the same range online as you see in their stores?

I'll admit, I've bought quite a bit of stuff for the DCs from George and also a bit of stuff for myself. The problem is that the quality really varies. I had a coat that lasted for 2 years continuous use and still looked new, but I bought some baby stuff for DS and the t-shirts become shapeless after about an hours wear!! DD loves their stuff as they have loads of Peppa Pig and Upsy Daisy stuff, so it is always a hit with the kids!!

Hope this helps!

I'd buy some bits for the children, little t-shirts etc but nothing for me
ever
I'm always dying to find a bargin when I'm there but it never happens
The lengths are all wrong, the colours are often off and the material just not worth it....even if it's cheap
