what are your top tips for hiding dark circles under eyes?

i don't wear make up, but after spending time with friends over christmas who i haven't seen for a while, and studying their faces to see who is aging the best/worst (we're all turing 40 atm), am beginning to think i should start to wear just a little bit.

how do i hide the dark circles without,

a. making them look worse with claggy concealer and patchy powder?

and

b. overdoing it and feeling like a clown?

I think using a special eye moissturiser and applying some Touche eclat style product straight after. (I loved TE for years until I started to get allergic). Works here and I have gigantic dark circles (2 kids under 3).

I have awful dark circles and had them even as a teenager which was annoying!I have tried ALOT of concealers and the best I find is Loreal's Touche Magique, more than half the price of Touche Eclat but much better.

I've had mine since the age of 13 and always hated them as they made me look older, but not in a good way iyswim.

Am also allergic to Touche Eclat but have discovered Benefit erase paste which does look gunky in the pot, but seems to disappear on the skin, leaving an even tone, and genuinely covers the purple.

I'd love to find a guaranteed way of getting rid, but am not prepared to pay £££ a pop for something which might cause a reaction and not even work.

this not too expensive, and covers well. I use it as a base for eyemakeup too, and to cover the odd pimple.

I think Touche Eclat is the best, although I would advise going easy on the application as you can go OTT and into 'negative' mode (white circles, v bizarre) quite quickly.

I have been panda eyed since before I cn remember ( I am now 24 and look dead with no makeup on )

I would recommend estee lauder doublewear concealer. It doesn't go on orange and you can choose a shade to match your skintone-whereas touche eclat is one colour only and can look awful!

Take a stroll into boots or debenhams makeup counters and get pampered for a bit

hylexin completely did away with my dark circles. Its a miricle honestly. That garnier roll on worked well for a friend of mine

thank you ladies, will wander down to boots in the morning and have a browse for a few of these suggestions. when you use something like touche eclat, do you need anything on top of it (powder) or does it do the job on it's own?

I find touche eclat too pink - prefer Clinique.

Not necessary to put powder on top, I think.

I too find Touche Eclat looks unnatural, and so I use Laura Mercier Secret Cammouflage, or Maybelline concealer. Maybelline one is only about £6, while LM is about £26! Only reason I have both is because I used to be a makeup junkie. Both work equally well.

Touche Eclat is a highlighter - not a concealer. It can actually make your dark circles look more prominent. I used to use it, but then discovered Bobbi Brown- this concealer gets the thumbs up by almost every make up artist you care to mention.

The only other one that comes near is Clinique air brushed concealer.

As a fellow dark circle sufferer since teenage years, I can say that drinking / not drinking, sleeping/not sleeping does not make much difference.

If you've got bags under your eyes not just dark circles hemorrhoid cream will shrink them although I've never had the guts to try it myself. Rectinol gel has been mentioned in beauty magazines.

I would agree that touche eclat is great but not a concealer. I use the laura mercier one applied with a brush then the TE at the inner and outer edges of the eye.

Get your eyelashes died then your eyes will look so lovely noone will notice your bags.

You can get Hylexin at SPACENK. Don't be put off by the price. You use so little that it last a very long time

I have started using bobbi brown eye brightener and it is very good indeed. Am very pleased with it. I put it on over mosturiser and wear light powder on top. Have used ysl te in the past but was not very impressed by it and did not buy it again. Estee Lauder disapear is great as well, particularly for covering spots.

I agree not drinking makes no difference (I hardly drink a drop and have baaad shadows)

op if you can bear to put fake tan on your face that makes a big difference to how obvious dhadows are.
