Ugg boots. Are they as uncool as Crocs?

I was just wondering.
Are they practical? I think they make people look like they've gone out in their slippers and the heels always look like they've given way. What happens in the rain?

I only ever wear mine in the house. They should not be seen in public.

Trust me, I'm an Aussie.

That makes sense to me.

Why does that seem to be ignored by ugg wearers?

IMVHO, they are.

my DH Aussie too. He describes Uggs as:

"the equivalent of wearing a fake Burberry hat atop a nylon tracksuit"

They do look toasty- when they are dry, but seeing soggy collapsed ones in the rain does put me off (more than what DH thinks)

think they're a million times worse than crocs! when they're wet - uuurrrggghhhh!!!

but then i would only allow my kids to wear crocs in the garden in the summer - wouldnt let them be seen out in public in them!

personall i don't like them.. the whole rest of the World seems to love them.

but if you are five foot eleven and 8 stone and you want to look both shorter and fatter, then excellent, uggs are the boots for you, so well done!

I wouldn't know cool if it slapped me across the face but I hate both of them.

Tulpe wear your uggs with pride. Only us younger ones like them

Report
tulpe · 17/12/2009 12:39

Maggie - I refuse to return them and shall wear them with pride.

Herbietie - DH also bought mine for Christmas too.....haven't actually got my mitts on them yet but he is crap at keeping secrets

Can I also say...........I really hate the use of the word "Chav". Now that is unacceptable, IMVHO.

Tulpe, don't worry about what these ugg haters are saying.

The only reason people hate a trend is because they cannot pull it off and wear it themselves.

i love my uggs. worn them to death and time for a new pair i think. certainly not chav - the fake uggs are awful, and if a chav can afford proper uggs then great!

I like mine well enough. They are uber comfy and warm. In the snow though I wear apres ski boots. Uggs best kept for the dry or else a danger they will get all muddy.

The problem is that you can get copies in tescos and every where else for a 5'er - real UGGS worn right are great, but the cheap nasty polyester ones with worn down heels really make me sick - it's the track suit of the '00s.

they lengthen the leg (think skinny jean sticking out of ugg, as in the shoe is big and the leg looks slim coming out of it). they are incredibly warm. they are damp proof (wouldn't wear them in rain, but they are fine in drizzle). personally i think that in my sand uggs, skinny jeans, and long-line cardi i look the antithesis of chav, but am willing to be persuaded otherwise. actually i'm not, so don't bother trying...

Completely uncool - esp. when worn with over-straightened bleach blond hair, fake tan and too short skirts, and seen getting out of a black twin cab pick up. Niiiiiice.

It must be an age thing though, because my daughter and her 10 year old friends think they are the epitome of cool.

I am over 30 and love mine. That said, it would be fair to say that I am down with the kids....
