I bought online http://www.amazon.co.uk/Dr-Martens-Womens-10492003-authentic/dp/B000W06HFU/ref=sr_1_116?ie=UTF8&s=ap&tag=mumsnet&ascsubtag=mnforum-21 parel&qid=1259615746&sr=1-116 thispair of gorgeous Doc Marten boots I am a size 5.5 and bought a size 5 as I thought they would be big. Have worn them for three hours and my left foot has gone numb but I love them so much, has anyone managed to stretch their boots or got any tips. (size 6 has sold out)

Put a (non-holey) carrier bag in the boot.
Fill it with water.
Put it in the freezer.
The ice will stretch it nicely.

I always used to get my dad to wear my docs for a week to soften them up as we are the same size and I hated that crippling first week.

ooooouch

I remember this one (with one particular pair, I had to get a cab home from my local)

[excruciating pain emoticon]

...as my sister's bf said at the time- you've got to let your docs break in your feet, rather than your feet break in your docs

stick it out. By Christmas they'll feel like flip flops

My friends in the army used to piss in their boots to soften them

Thanks to all you lovely mumsnetters ideas the boots are now are on their way to fitting...
What I did was
1)Try the filling boots with water and putting in freezer. Sadly this failed due to build up of oven chips and ice meaning there wasn't enough room
2)Considered pissing on them but decided they are too new and too lovely
3) Lined boots with plastic bag and then filled boots with porridge oats (kids never eat it anyway) Added water and freezer clipped the top so the oats couldn't ooze out of the top.
4)Left it two days
5)Initially felt very pissed off because beg had split but once goop was scooped out and cleaned up I tried them on they fit a lot better.
Thanks again everyone
