wedding - have I gone mad

Ok, I'd been in denial about my cousins wedding too long (it's this saturday) and on monday went shopping and bought a miss sixty dress. This is the butterfly print of the skirt bit
www.djpremium.com/shop/G1-V67381-R54334-P377052/miss-sixty/olinda-butterfly-print-dress.html
but the actual shape of the top of the dress is more like this, in a purpley rib fabric www.djpremium.com/shop/G1-V67381-R54334-P420949/miss-sixty/long-pretty-singlet.html with a little matching shrug on top.
It has a tulip hem - not sure at all about that, and it is well above the knee!

But am I mad? - I'm 39 (tho I looked much younger than my age til I had dd) and I've just looked on Harrods site and they say Miss Sixty is a fave of Paris Hilton, Mischa Barton - I'm 20 yrs older than them, I am not a WAG, i'm just ordinary.

I hardly ever buy clothes, I like stuff a little interesting, but am I just going to look like mutton. The lady in the shop was so reassuring.

Post a photo of you in it(headless if you're shy) because I have no visual imagination and cannot picture a butterfly print, tulip-hem, purple-ripped-top-with-shrug dress for the life of me!

It sounds kind of cool, I like the butterfly print. The legs issue depends on whether you feel happy showing your legs. If you put it on and feel ready to go and confident, you'll look good IMO.

Wish I could find a photo of the dress but that's the best I can do! I'm at work so I can't do the photo of me now!

ok getting closer - I tried on this dress as well actuall, the top of this dress down to the ribbon is the shape of the butterfly dress I have, but then it is straight butterfly print down to the tulip hem but that is covered by shrug anyway!

I guess I'm just worried by the brands reputation. I'm 5ft 7, slimmish, apart from the baby sag that I haven't got round to getting rid of, small boobs, good legs.

Oh God, Girls Aloud wear Miss Sixty.

I really wish I didn't know that!

snowleopard - yes legs are ok. And I love the print - and I work in conservation so kind of appropriate. Dragonflys would be better tho'.

I suppose I feel ok, I just haven;t been to a wedding for years and I have no idea what people wear. Apart from dresses from Coast of course! And then there is what they wear, and what they look like in it.... when you look in the mirror it's as much about the image you think you see if you see what I mean.

I can look at it and think "that's great", but I can also look at it and think "what does she think she looks like" and dp hasn't seen me in it yet and I'm a bit worried he'll tend to the latter!

I'm 38, I've heard of Miss 60, I know what their stuff is like and that they're quite young and hip (and other impossibly out-of-touch "groovy" words ) but if I found something by them that suited me I wouldn't think twice about wearing it. I don't think you should be put off by a brand, just wear what appeals to you. Will people at the wedding recognise it anyway? I know my friends wouldn't!

Also I think fighting the wedding tyranny of Coast with something a bit quirky and different is always a good thing.

Oh and re what people wear at weddings, at the last few I've been to I've found quite a lot of the dresses really tame. I think it's a time to wear bright colours and something you would never normally wear.

I am feeling the eggs!

If I have a little wobble I shall think eggs.
Thank you!

Don't worry about the brand. If you like it, and it suits you, wear it! (i love the print!)

I think you're just feeling a bit uncertain, weddings always induce that 'am I under/over/suitably dressed?' feeling.

You'll be grand!

I bought a miss 60 top last week in the sale. It looks really nice on me. Check my profile for my age! If it suits you, wear it.
