I want to be stylish? Tell me what to wear

My fantasy is to dress like a Parisian.
The reality is jumpers and jeans every day.
Any ideas of partic. pieces, what should be in my wardrobe etc?

Slim leg black trousers (Gap have good ones) and a turtleneck, a la Audrey Hepburn? As comfortable as jeans but looks semi-Parisian!

For me, that would be

1. Very fitted jacket (blazer or tuxedo style) that has long enough sleeves and a all-round slim fit.
   
   
2. GOOD jeans skinny and bootleg
   
   
3. GOOD bag I.E real leather. I have mine from river island (tan oversized) and it adds lots to any outfit - even something really quite boring and non-expensive.
   
   
4. GOOD sunglasses (I have gucci and, although a classic shape, they look stylish all the time)
   
   
5. Trench coat. Mine is a full-skirted trench from matalan and, although not a usual fan of this shop, it looks great, gives me a great waist (fitted on arms, shoulders and bust), and can be worn with my skinny jeans (NOT bootleg as too much volume) and great over a skirt that is either same length or shorter than hem of coat, worn with great heels (very sexy)

I find it difficult to shop outside of my comfort zone. I often have to stop and think what should I go for this time to look stylish.

My advice is;

skinny jeans - although people originally said what a bad idea these are, I have found that if you get a good pair that fit well they can actually make you look slimmer. I like Topshop for these and they are not too expensive.

Ted Baker do some very stylish pieces and you can buy online. There are some nice shirts there at the moment. It's quite expensive but I find TB individual and one thing from there can really lift an outfit.

A good pair of shoes. Office are stylish, Russell and Bromley great but very expensive (but if you have the cash...)

Have huge calves and ankles (rest of me is fine), which has led me not to wear skinny jeans. Will try some tho.'

From what I remember, the main rule with big calves is not to wear a hemline that cuts across that area.
