If I wear this dress to a wedding what are the odds someone else will too?

This one from Monsoon.

Got to be from Monsoon as I'm exchanging another I bought a while ago that looks crappola now. It's the same price. I love the new dress and it will suit me better than the one I bought but I've seen it loads of times in the window displays so am kind of expecting someone else to wear it too. What are the odds and dare I do it anyway?

its a gorgeous dress, love the colour! I ALWAYS worry that someone will be in the same outfit as me!
can you wear a jacket/cardigan over it, make it slightly different just in case?

I would say anything from Monsoon or Coast has a fairly high chance of duplication

Have got some lovely silver/pewter shoes and will wear with silver sequinned bolero if I get it (PROPER bling!)

agree with cd

with weddings best to wear something from last yearr i always think

or go to a less popular shop - somewhere like reiss, whistles etc

or get something really plain and jazz up with accessories - that way less of an issue if someone else has the same dress

It's gorgeous. I've never seen two people in the same outfit at a wedding. I'd risk it

So what if someone else wears it? YOU will look far better in it I am sure

How many people are going to the wedding ? Are they similar age/demographic to you ?.

Went to a wedding recently in a Coast dress and nearly everyone else there had Coast/Monsoon on (I know, cos I'd tried most of them on ) Luckily, no one had the same on but it is risky

Lovely dress though

I've bought it for a wedding! Edinburgh, at the end of August - hope it's not the same one. Thought about the chances of someone else wearing it, but I'm not that bothered. It's a lovely dress.

It's beautiful. I was in Monsoon (a large branch) yesterday and I definitely didn't see that dress. I have vouchers and I was in there for a while. So I'd say it's a style not every branch will have. You should be alright.

I was looking at it in shop today but hads the dds with me and only managed to try one other on before dd2 drove me mad in the changing room running about. Dh can have the dds tomorrow, I'll get me Gok-undies on and go in! The dress I bought in the first place was beeeoootiful but I look like a bago'shite in it.

Its the wedding season I see

I went in our Monsoon yesterday and I didn't see that dress either, I think you will be ok.

I also bought my wedding outfit yesterday.... from Coast, so I hope no-one wears the one I have either I love most of the dresses in Coast, it was a hard choice

oooh - TIP OFF! just remembered - the manageress in Monsoon today told me to hurry up and exchange it as it would be going down in price in no more than 2 weeks' time. so that'll be the sale then

I bought a Hobbs dress (polka dot) with a bolero cardi to go to a wedding to find out a good friend bought and was wearing the same dress although in a different colour and the bride was wearing the same cardi as well!! We all laughed about it and raised a glass of two to our good taste.

LOL at Mnetters all over country wearing identical Hobbs and Monsoon dresses

Even if I'm wearing a bolero with it, will I need to get one of those bras with the see-through straps? Bra itself would need to be flesh coloured too, I guess. The straps on the dress have got a really nice bead detail so see-through would be best I reckon(?)

Didn't get it today. Came on and feel like a pile of rubbish so will go tomorrow instead when I'm feeling hopefully less bloated and plobby.

I've worked it out.
Assuming there will be 500 people or fewer at the wedding
Assuming half the attendees will be men
Assuming none of the men will be wearing a dress
Assuming a dress budget of £30 - £270
There is a 1 in 212 chance that someone will be wearing the same dress as you.

Lovely dress but no to the plastic see-through bra straps imo - come and commiserate with us on the 'there are no uplifting strapless bras' thread!

happened to me once M&S Autograph dress, not only was someone else wearing it (and a smaller size) but we were seated at the same blinkin' table. Did laugh about it but could have been awkward.

It's a beautiful dress & if you've a little shrug/stole or something over it it'll be less obvious if someone else has it. Unless she saw your ideas on here & thought that ensemble sounds nice

That's lovely. Don't get plastic bra straps they are awful. Wear a stapless bra or one with same colour straps as dress - try bravissimo.
I think with different accessories you'd be okay even if someone else wore the same dress.
