right, I need good advice - dress needed for dd's christening!

ok, so I'm currently a wee bit overweight and still hanging on to the jelly belly...yeuch.

I want to find a gorgeous frock, or skirt and top, or smart trousers to wear to my dd's christening in 4 weeks time. I have no idea what would suit my shape...I'm 5' 3'', size 14, big norks (34e - eek) biggish tum, think I'm usually your basic pear shape but with the added bonus of a post-baby belly. So what style would suit me, give me a waist, make me look slimmer/taller/size10?

I like the tunic tops that are around but think they would make me look like I was still pregnant!

Help me!

oh, right...I have big boobs, used to have a waist, normal hips - not tiny and not huge. So maybe I'd be more hourglass, pre baby? My legs are a bit bigger than usual just now, but they're not that bad. So yeah, I carry the weight round my middle (inc my back).

I'm the same sizes as you weewillie and would consider myself an hourglass. I also have a christening to go too soon. I'm wearing a long white/red skirt, red v-neck camisole and a shrug/cardi to cover my arms. All from phase eight which is very nice. Also wearing heels.

Try wearing v necks to flatter your top half.
If you want to wear any patterns then keep them on bottom half.
Medium heels are good. Too high will look like you are trying too hard and flats will make you look tiny.

All IMO so I'm sure some proper style people will correct me if not good advice.

I'm v.curvy and find a nice wrap dress always works! You can really dress it up with heels, jewellry, a jacket etc. but can wear in in a more casual way too. Also, Spanx knickers are fantastic - hubby might not be dying to pull them off but they do smooth out the bumps.

I was thinking wrap dress too - just they always gape open on me! I'm not bf'ing, by the way (actually just in the motions of finishing it) so a dress is fine, rather than a skirt/top combo.

have been looking in Debenhams, they have some lovley things in, esp Debut and Principles.

Will do some links, see what you think.

I like the first one and the last one. What colourings are you?

I'm blonde with fair skin, but will be fake-tanning myself up. The first one with some funky wedges, maybe?

I think that would look really nice.
