Nursing capsule wardrobe for clear winter

S&B people, I need your help.

I'm a clear winter, in a bit of a rut and think a wardrobe overhaul will help. 17 days ago I had a lovely baby. Before she was born, I was wearing a range of maternity clothes from Seraphine, Isabella Oliver, Mothercare and Top Shop. Many of these were from a previous pregnancy and I was really happy in them.

Only a few of these are suitable for nursing. I have some lovely nursing tops and a couple of nursing dresses. I don't fit into pre-pregnant trousers/ skirts so have nothing to wear with the tops.

I'm looking to create a capsule wardrobe that I can nurse in that will see me through to next Spring. I fed DD1 to 8 months and will probably do the same with DD2.

I've got some great nursing bras, but need everything else apart from vest tops, two nursing t shirts in red and olive green, a maxi dress in cream and an orange shift dress.

Pre-pregnancy I was a size 12. I was on steroids for part of the pregnancy and have a monster big bum and hips, as well and the remaining wobbly tummy. I'm post c-section so want to avoid anything that digs into my scar as it's very sore at the moment. I think I am probably a size 16.

I used to run and with DD1 ran with the buggy and got my figure back pretty fast. The plan is the same this time but I have a lot more to lose and tone so flattering lines would be fabulous.

I've been feeling quite down and a lot of that is made worse by wearing the same cream dress endlessly and lacking confidence to go out in it again and again.

I'd love some clothes suitable for mother and baby groups, socialising but also for KIT days at work.

Oh and I can't drive yet after the c section so anything I can order online is a bonus.

Come and join us on the winter colours thread and I'm sure that we can help you.

Have a look at next as they do next day delivery and if you have an account you don't need to pay up front so ideal if you need to order lots to try on. You can also book a courier for returns so again great for not being able to drive. There's an emerald cardi which some of us have or have tried on the winters thread which presumably would be good over a vest?

I never bf mine for long so am not great at suggesting what to wear whilst nursing.

Forgot to say congratulations on the baby!

Queen thank you very much. The emerald cardigan is beautiful and will be perfect over a vest. Will join you on the other thread. Many thanks again.

Hi, I came over from the winter thread. Will say hello to you there too but a few thoughts off the top of my head:

-you don't really need nursing tops per se, I think a lot of people do a vest top underneath (H&M have some good, really long ones which are v stretchy) and then a normal top over. You lift the normal top, then lower the vest top and nothing is revealed.

(I'll see if I can find a link to the vests)

-I really like harem trousers and think they would be comfy for post birth especially with a c section scar.

I love these hush ones but they are pretty spendy. But they last and wash well IMO.

H&M do some too, much cheaper but they bag a lot (at the knees) which the hush ones don't.

I like wearing stretchy tube skirts too, again quite easy on the c section scar. This kind of thing, with tights and boots. Again a lot of places do them, I have this one from me&em and found it has washed well.

Btw - The clothes you do have aren't in winter colours, apart from maybe the red top.

I have these harem trousers but they do bag at the knee

harems

cheap skirt - double layered is best to hold you in though, topshop used to do some.

Sorry - final thought from me. The websites I have suggested aren't great for internet shopping as not free delivery or returns.

Asos.com I always find good, loads of stuff, with free delivery and returns.

Next do harems too, might be worth trying if they are good with delivery and returns as QueenC says.

MrPop thank you. This is really great. I've got my nursing things mainly left from last time when I was still colour ignorant. Exciting to have so much to look at.

Not much use on colours and styles but the best nursing item of clothing I bought was called a breast vest and was a vest that started under your bra line and was very long comfy and stretchy I had it in both black and white and it made any top into a nursing top.
