boots now summer is over?

It looks like summer is drawing to an end so I am thinking boots
Last year I got clarks national sugar boots which I loved but calf height so too hot for some days
I want some ankle boots. Not chelsea type or mumsy boots
I am more of a rugged, chunky boot type
I am drawn towards these but may be a mistake as they are not my usual style

I don't want to seem mean, but I'm 55 and they seem a bit 'old lady' to me. It's also 24 degrees here, so that's probably not helping!

Don't you think they're a bit wintery? I would thin you a loon if I saw you out in those in August.

They're not mumsy boots, they're gransy boots, sorry!

Where do you live? It is still forecast to be in the mid 20's for the next couple of weeks where I live in the UK so it would be far too hot for boots like that until October imo.

I am planning on waiting until September but it is chilly today!
There are not what I would usually wear so I have my answer
I would go for more of a rugger or biker type boot
Something like national sugar but shorter
Thanks all Grin

Summer is what? I'm in the garden barefoot.
I'm not sure about them, they look super cosy, but they're definitely more winter boot than Autumn. I'm going to be wearing dark red brogues this autumn (in case anyone was desperate to know).

I still hope there is more summer to come, I would like to camp at the end of august but nothing wrong with planning ahead
I spent all last autumn/winter looking for ankle boots!

They look like those things you put both feet in at once to keep warm, often sold in the back of the Sunday papers. Sorry but I wouldn't be seen dead in those.

We get little enough nice weather in this country, why not enjoy it while it lasts? Nobody likes buying new winter boots more than me but it's August 1st FGS!

I've been thinking of boots today too. I was musing over the fact that there's really only 4-6 weeks of warm weather left. I think I'm going to get these this year, have dithered the last few years.

Grim boots. Have you got sunstroke?

OP, I have those boots, but I would say three things about them.

  1. I didn't buy them in August
  2. They look 1000% better with the cuff turned up, so they come to low-calf. Heaven knows why Clarks photograph them with the cuff turned down - they do look like granny bootees worn like that.
  3. They are very warm.

I don't think they are nice. You could find something much better.

I bought sandals this week.
Usually it's not boots weather until about November...

GobblersKnob · 02/08/2014 08:49

I bought sandals last week too, and I will be wearing them until October. I have also just bought a sundress, it is the 2nd of August ffs.

Only a model with slim legs and beautiful clothes could pull those bootees off with anything approaching aplomb.

Two things...

  1. They are very ugly, to the extent that my 70 year old mother would recoil upon seeing them and

  2. it is the 2nd August and I am currently deciding whether to wear shorts or a dress to a party tonight!

Snog · 02/08/2014 10:32

Agree they look like granny boots.
My 75 year old mother would reject these!!!
Flip flop weather here still!
