Help me 'Glasgow-fy' my summer holiday wardrobe!

I live on the South coast where it has been roasting for the last few weeks. I've lived in shorts, short skirts and vest tops and flip flops. We've come up to Glasgow for the Commonwealth Games and then another week afterwards. However, while I thought I'd packed to cover all eventualities I'm finding that I've worn mainly my warmer things (jeans, jumper, blazer and converse). I have the chance to do a little shopping today. What couple of items should I buy to make my summer wardrobe more suitable for the sunshine and showers when it's really more summery?

I don't want to spend a fortune or buy loads but a couple of things to help me actually wear some if my summer stuff would be great!

Thank you!

Covered arms or legs, not both at same time, I find.

Just wear normal summer gear & bring a brolly, it's pretty warm in Scotland just now.

Both dd and ds have been wearing shorts and crocs/Sandals recently (even when it's been drizzling/raining). We haven't worn jackets for ages but remember to take an umbrella. A cardigan or hoodie has been sufficient if feeling cold. I have also been wearing sandals along with jeans or cropped trousers

cropped jeans, tees, cardi, you will be fine! Anything goes. It set to be cooler so take a cardigan or jumper. Shoes - trainers like converse wii be fine and a pair of sandals I would take a waterproof. Hate umbrellas personally.

If you are glasgow the most important thing is to be dead glam at all times despite the weather.

I recommend a printed playsuit, heels and big hair

Thanks all. I'm just feeling a bit chilly and kicking myself I didn't bring hoody / fleece etc.

And thanks CerealOffender. I have the big hair, but not in a glam way. John Frieda should have tested his Frizzease products here. The drizzle is not doing me any favours!

It has been roasting in scotland too but just turned a bit cooler yesterday

I leave the house n jeans because it's cloudy but am all sweaty later on when the sun comes out. So I would buy light weight trousers and get yourself a Glasgow 2014 hoodie!

You need layers.

I'm in a vest, shirt and jeans today and I need to wear my coat because of the drizzle, but it's too warm.

There's a massive Primarni on Argyle Street if you're looking for cheap.

I have a large paisley print cotton shawl that's worked wonders for bridging the gap between coolish and warmish and it fends off the lighter showers.

You need layers and a big bag to carry it all in. I recommend something like a sun dress as a base layer with a cardigan and something waterproof over the top, perhaps carry some leggings with you to wear underneath. Just make sure it all goes, Cereal is right, its all about the glam here :)

Where are you going shopping?

Said she while sprawled on the couch in bleach stained trackie bottoms and a holey tee shirt (I'm having a break from the house work :)

We were at the games from 9am to 10pm the other day - I wore cropped chinos to just below my knees a tshirt and a hoodie. A cardi would have been more glam. I had a light waterproof in my bag for rain showers and also as an extra late night layer.

I find with cons or other trainers I can wear shorts in cooler weather than I can with sandals or flip flops.

If you're shopping I'd buy a good cardi. And cropped chinos (fatface? - there's one on Buchanan street) And I'd buy/wear leggings with short skirts but some on here seem to think that's a big crime against fashion :)

Even when it's grey and damp in the summer, Glasgow is always quite clammy must be the cloud cover.
I'd get a lightweight summer parka (loads of place have them) good for showers and keeps the wind out if it's breezy.
Summery shoes that can deal with damp.
Light layers so you can cover up without being too warm.
Cardis are great and not too casual looking, also a lightweight scarf.

Thanks all, I bought a little cardi , hoody, some leggings and a rucksack to carry everything!

We've been very lucky in having two lots of tickets for most days but it means we have been out from 7am till 10pm. All my photos are going to look like I wore the same the things! However, today I'm going for a dress and the leggings!!

But I am so sick of carting round all the layers - waterproofs, jumpers for 4 people ( kids are only little) , packed lunches, drinks and other associated 'stuff'!
But it has been fab! Glasgow has done itself proud!

We were so lucky on Tuesday to have a mainly good day for the mountain biking - would have been tough in today's weather (especially with 11mo old ds)

The rain was ridiculous last night, even for Glasgow. The athletics was so fab that it didn't matter, though. Go for the festival look - wellies and a knicker-skimming dress Grin

I've been at the games every day and never needed a jumper or jeans . You do need a lightweight waterproof jacket though . We've only had one very wet day.
