Sorry if a bit gross... Clammy thighs?!

Hi all
Sorry if this is a bit unpleasant but I figured if you lot didn't know what I'm looking for, they probably don't exist!

So... In this hot weather it's nice to wear a summer dress. I am not too enormous, 12-14 but my thighs do touch each other and when out for long walks etc in a dress can get a bit hot, sweaty and sore... Are there any sort of shorts or the like that would remedy the situation can you think of? Sorry if I have made you all vomit into your dinners with the thought of my sweaty thighs!! Thanks

Do you mean like spanx type shorts? Like this

Lanacane (sp) is your best friend! It's a gel you apply before going out - great as a primer apparently, too! - and it keeps skin smooth and dry. Brilliant stuff.

Exactly the issue i am having. Was going to wear a maxi dress today but opted for my wide legs. Just cant go walking with the rubbing. I am a 12 so not 'big' either but its really uncomfortable.

I was looking for shorts like these on the M&S website this morning and drew a blank.

Evans do some but it's not just a "bigger girl" problem. Also they are 65% nylon (sounds the thrush klaxon!)

I tend to wear cotton bike shorts from American Apparel but they are a wee bit long, so watching this with interest... I just don't understand why these aren't a "thing"!

I wear these store.americanapparel.co.uk/cotton-spandex-jersey-cycle-short_rsa8335 under skirts and dresses, so much more comfortable, and cooler than sticky sweaty skin ;-)

Spanx have been my saviour recently but its too hot for them at the moment! I've been living in my floaty trousers. Having difficulty finding shorts that arent too long or too short as well.

Size 12 by the way

These are good or these if you need something shorter, depending on the length of your dress. I size up in both, but one do that for all pants.

Just buy cheap leggings from Primark and chop them off until they come just above the knee.

I would try a bodyglide stick. It's meant for running to stop chafing but I can't see why it wouldn't work for just everyday use.

Sloggi extra long - 98% cotton. They are fantastic.

Liquid talc ! Works brilliantly and is cheap. You rub it on as a cream and it acts as talc removing any dampness and stops chaffing. It's usually in the baby aisle.

I've discovered Bandelettes this summer. They are bands of fabric or lace with silicone edges to keep them up around your upper thigh. I got mine from an eBay shop that sells them. More comfortable than the extra layer of leggings or tights etc.

Simply be also have something called "comfort shorts" I've ordered some for the exact same problem

Bodyglide is the best thing ever for this. Lancane gel is good, but Bodyglide is even better. And you can use either to stop shoes rubbing

MsFreud, I cut the top band off worn out hold ups, sounds like the same kind of idea as the Bandalettes. They're great, it really is like having bare legs again.

Wow, so many suggestions- thank you all so much! I'm addicted to amazon so I'll def check your option out gobblers, but will also look at spanx, body glide and liquid talc!

As Arfur said upthread... I don't understand either why this isn't a "thing"!

Thanks again

I had this until I started running, toned my legs up and no more chafing. Heaven. Otherwise I'd say talc but you have my sympathy. I once rubbed sores on my thighs on holiday, awful. I was a size 12 too.

I had this last year when I was pregnant, it was so sore it really got me down. I used bio oil/talc/lannacane gel/lannacane powder/sudocrem. Not altogether obvs, used whichever seemed to be helping at the time. I also got some cream from the docs which was just a medicated moisturiser really but that was prob the least effective out of everything. I feel your pain!

Apparently Evans do something called Comfort Shorts. Sorry I can't link as on phone.

Thanks to the OP for posting and for the helpful replies. I also have the same problem and my thighs are pretty muscular from walking everywhere.

Neat 3B Action cream is what I use. The three Bs are "breasts, buttocks and between the legs". It's available on Amazon. DH and I both use it, we live in a hot country and lube ourselves up most weekends Grin.

Another vote for Bodyglide - invisible, doesn't rub off, lasts all day. Has transformed what this chubster can wear in the summer Grin

Thanks all. Have invested in some body glide and a cheapy pair of cotton cycling shorts from amazon, both arriving on Monday- what're the chances that the rain will start just as I get all my lovely summer frocks out?!
