Where to shop for pre- teen girls

Dd is nearly 11 and needs lots of new clothes. She's tall and slim and very fashion conscious- she hates anything too girly and is a bit 'alternative' as she likes to look funky. She likes things like denim shorts, vest tops and cropped cardis or tunics with cropped leggings but isn't really into leggings. Things with unusual patterns, slogans catch her eye but no pinks or pastels!

I've promised her a shopping trip but is there a holy grail of girls shops? H and M, new look and debenhams are on my list but is there anything else I should try? Budget isn't huge and would appreciate value for money!

Primark is really good for pre teenagers too and yes h&m.

I had the same problem recently with DD. She needed a whole new wardrobe because she shot up so quickly. Seemed like one day her clothes fit, and the following week they were too small.

Anyway, the shops you mentioned are pretty good for pre teens. If you are on a budget (like I was) places like Tesco do pre teen clothes that are good for the basics, like jeans/shorts etc. I also bought a couple of more things from M&S, Next, Zara and Topshop (DD is like your DD. Wants funkier clothes)

You can also look in the petite range (size 6/8) of most adult clothing shops.

I may have to brave Primark then (shudder ) my sister is a size 6 (age 31 and just extremely petite!) and has given her a few things that fit ok so good idea to try ladies clothes too. Does anybody shop in tammy girl any more? I know that if we don't find things in the first couple of shops she will lose interest quickly. She also has no concept of cost and will exclaim that £15 for a pair of trousers is ridiculous and refuse to buy them so I need to hide price tags from her!

Definitely primark but dd aged 11 prefers the adult section - I get her an adult size 6. The kids section is very childish in her opinion. I just vet what she can have! T shirts and hoodies from primark are brilliant.

Next is also quite good as their girls stuff goes up to an age 16.

Dds favourite shop is the teens section of new look however. She absolutely loves it.

DD(12) has most of her clothes from New Look. I felt like all my worries about clothes shopping had vanished when I started looking in there.

I still get pjs and underwear from M&S though. Grin

Is tammy girl still around? I haven't seen one in years.

I get most of dds clothes from h&m and river island. She's 11 next month, hates girly clothes, pink, butterflies, etc.
She's recently started to ask for superdry & hollister TShirts and hoodies as that's what her friends wear apparently Hmm

She likes Playsuits, dungarees, denim shorts but not skirts for some reason.

I used to get all my clothes from Tammy Girl when I was about 10 upwards :)
I think they do still exist in BHS?

Thanks all
Tammy girl does exist as part of BHS. Dd also likes super dry and has a few t shirts and hoodies. She seems very fussy for what appears to be a fairly simple wardrobe! Our New Look is fairly small but there's a bigger one in the next town. I've shopped in M and Co before but our closest one is 45 minutes away- worth remembering if the trip is a disaster!
Also remembered about Matalan but no idea if this will meet with her approval.

For new look I'd shop online for the teen range. They usually have lots in the sale online too in the smaller sizes so may get a bargain.
