Hello, I could do with some help! I am 60, size 14, constantly dieting LOL. I usually live in jeans and wear leggings and long tops around the house but too self conscious to go out in them, but would love to. My legs above the knee I feel are too chubby to do that although I do see other ladies that are bigger than me but I would just feel awful.

Legs below knee are also veiny and with what look like bruises but are not so never wear dresses although in winter not so bad as I could wear opaque tights.

I also only wear the same old shoes with the jeans which are ok with a bit of a heel and if I was to wear anything else would also need shoes or sandals.

I saw the thread for the comfy trousers and liked the next ones but not very keen on linen as it can crease and look awful but maybe something like that with a longish top to cover my bum although not too bothered about that. Did I mention my arms are very "bingo wings" so need at least something to elbows, not so easy to find in summer. I know I should just wear what I want and have worn sleeveless around house in summer and it is lovely and cool but could not go out like that. Although I am 60, in my head I am still 18 LOL.

Any ideas ladies - I think I need a total re-vamp but don't know where to start!

hi
take a look at some of these threads.

You could just wear normal clothes then change into loose trousers like say these www.marksandspencer.com/roll-top-yoga-pants/p/p22278652 on the flight/

.. do you mean for the flight or the holiday?

For the flight and holiday really, just fed up looking so scruffy in jeans all the time. I need a total revamp of my wardrobe. Those yoga pants look good and I did buy some from Costco last week but not worn them yet. Anything like that I would need something long to cover the bum. I am OK with shorter tops with jeans but they hold you in more and need sleeves to elbow. Thanks for the help.

how are you with cropped trousers or a long skirt?

I like my bum in jeans because they hold me in but in yoga pants I would need to cover it as I fear it would be too jiggly/cellulite. I just need a complete revamp and not just for the flight/holiday - just fed up with the jeans and jumper/t shirt look.

Never wear skirts or cropped trousers but will go and have a look around the shops and see what looks good.

Thanks for your help.

Two rules for flights over two hours.

  1. Comfort. On the assumption you're flying cattle, you need to wear something that moves with you as you attempt to get comfy Wink.

  1. Climate approriate, both for in the air with A/C and for when you arrive.

Other than that I usually stick with dark colours in case someon eknocks a drink down you!

The Next harem pants which are often mentioned on here are great for travelling. I wore mine travelling last week- don't crease, elasticated waist and the right weight of fabric that could be worn here and in warmer climes.

Ok, my go to flight attire is jersey type material pants (even some yoga type pants work for this and OK these can be cheap may not last long time but hey you can get a few pairs and dry quickly if you need to wash n wear) and light cotton top with jumper over it
Think waist comfort and ability to get socks on / off without hassle also trainers (as you will have to walk many miles within the airport so best foot forwards)
Jeans are NOT comfortable for long flights (well any flights actually).
Generally for summer how about long skirts - and try some good supportive sandals with lots of straps and bolero tops you can wear strappy ones under to mix and match colours / textures and so on.
Try some cropped trousers it may surprise you

Good luck!

ok
stop shopping at costco.
I bet you only wear black too?

EMBRACE COLOUR. ask your mates what colours suit you - what do you always get complimented on? that suits you.

can you tolerate a shirt with a vest under it for cooler days, It could be longer to cover your bum and your arms but give a nod to summer?

Karl,

Thank you for your suggestions but I could not see a link to something instead of jeans? I was looking at harem pants the other day but think I am a bit big for them and to look nice I think they need strappy heels but they look very comfy.

Good idea with the vest top with an open? shirt over it, thanks.
