Nose piercing - yay or nay?

Beaverfeaver2 · 15/06/2014 21:38

DH is away.

Usually when he goes away (not very often) I end up getting a tattoo of some sort.

I quite fancy getting my nose pierced but have t had a piercing done for about 15 years!

Does anyone have one and love it?

I don't have one (just had my bellybutton pierced before the dawn of time), but I don't like them, they are not flattering. Same goes for eyebrow piercings.

I've had mine for nearly 20 years and I still love it just as much as ever.

I got one in my mid 20's too. I love it. It suits me.

If you think it will suit you, go for it! A lot of people don't notice mine as its subtle.

I can't bloody take it out now anyway Grin. It's a small red heart. Good job I love it!

I used to have one. I liked it but when DS was a baby he used to keep grabbing at it so I took it out. You need to wear a stud all the time or it closes up. But if you do take it out it heals up and you can hardly see where it was.

Lots of pretty studs around. Some quite tiny and subtle

I've recently had mine done, where is good to buy nice little studs?

I used to have mine done as a teenager and loved it, but the stud fell out at a festival and it closed up really quickly.

i really want mine done again!!!

I've had mine since I was 17 and it's still my favourite piercing (all the rest in my ears and belly button, no intimate ones!). I buy studs from Claire's Accessories, I have a tiny little one with a clear stone that - most importantly - is held in with a little claw setting so it doesn't fall out. I found that cheap ones where the stone is just glued in wouldn't last long.

I think it suits me. I don't think people notice it much though!

I had mine done as a teenager, let it close in my twenties and had it redone in my thirties! I only wear a small stud with a little stone in it which I bought from the place I got it pierced. Go for it!

I say yay. I don't think I would ever be brave enough but my mate has a nose stud and it looks great on her

Love mine. Had it done in my mid twenties and I'm now early 40s and still love it. I always wear tiny little clear diamondy studs and ebay is great for them.

YY to claw settings, glued in never last.

Yaaaaaay, never naaah.

I love mine, it's ridiculously flattering and pretty. It's the best thing about my face Grin

If you want one have it done. I personally don't find facial piercings attractive in any way, but an opinion from an anonymous poster on a forum isn't going to influence your decision.

Definitely no - no matter how dainty or elegant the nose ring is, I think they are not at all becoming.

Glued in?
Please explain?

Is it like a microdermal? I didn't think you could put those on your nose.

Although I have seen some lovely micro dermal piercings.

I am a little concerned as I have had my eyebrow perched twice in the past and both times it grew out pretty quickly.

I loved mine - it really suited me.

Removed it when I started teaching on the HT's request - school were doing a big drive against students having piercings & felt it unhelpful to have a teacher flashing one.

I wore a nose stud out of work for a while but tbh, I kept forgetting I had it in once it wasn't there all the time, blowing my nose & stabbing myself in the septum. Ouch. I tried doing the bending the post thing but they still kept twisting round & jabbing me! Eventually I let it close up.

I much prefer my ear cartilage piercings, which just sit there being no trouble...

I really want my nose piercing but my body always seems to reject piercings Sad I can't even have my ears pierced!

Go for it!

Love mine. Had it done in my 20s over 20 years ago. I buy studs at a market stall and always go for the bent over stud.

ShelaghTurner · 16/06/2014 07:39

No glued in is the stone on the stud. They just fall off and you're left with a stud with no stone in!

Report
Elledouble · 16/06/2014 08:42

Yeh, that's what I meant - the studs with the glued in stones do tend to sit a bit more flush with your face so less likely to get caught on things, but I've walked around far to many times with a silly empty setting so I much prefer the ones I have now (the current one has probably lasted at least a couple of years).

Many of the Claire's ones also have a sort of ball bit at the bottom of the post (the bit that's inside your nose - part of the post, not a separate bit like on belly button piercings or anything) which I find also stay in much better than the L-shapes ones or twirly ones or whatever.
