And there's going to be a full moon. DH has been warning DD and friends to beware of unlucky werewolves Grin

Grin

I dread to think what DD and her mates will be up to tonight, and we are in charge of making sure they are back here at a semi-reasonable hour - sleepover here tonight!

Am sitting anxiously by the phone waiting for news from my bff who went in to be induced yesterday morning early. This is the baby that has been waited for for a loooong time and I just want it here, safely, now, please. While I was watching tv last night I kept thinking about how bloody awful labour is (and powerful and amazing and all that, but still, awful) in a weird flashback way, and worrying about my friend and her dh coping with a long drawn-out induction nightmare. Positive maternal vibes towards St Thomas's today, please, Crepeys.

In case anyone is free tonight and fancies the theatre, I have a spare (free) ticket to Private on Parade at Greenwich Theatre starting 7.30pm. Any takers?

And full moon on Friday 13th Shock! Scary.

Sending mine, Wilbur. That is where DD was bornSmile

We were all thinking of her last night at choir to, Wilbur - everyone's poised for the news!

Don't think I'll take up the offer - suspect it's a glamorous Aldi night. Wink

TOO, that should read

Crossing fingers Wilbur - maybe it won't be drawn out? (my induction took all of three hours!!)

ToT - 96 (can't put that in lbs as not weighing self, but everything is looser....) - DP should go away more often!

Report
herbaceous · 13/06/2014 08:54

Positive vibes, Wilbur. Is she of similar crepey vintage to us?

I was induced, induced again and it ended in an emergency c-section. All well in the end, of course!

Haven't weighed myself yet, but suspect the result will be underwhelming. Though I haven't done a fast day yet this week, so not surprising really...

Herbs - yes, she's a year younger than me, so an elderly primagravida, as they so delightfully put it.

Also, can someone tell me what the ToT and cryptic numbers mean? I think I missed the memo.

Am going to pilates now in the hopes that my phone will ring in the middle of the plank.

Trousers of Truth (some of us are trying to lose a bit) Rudy and I started at 100 as our base number (rather then revealing - in my case - the full horror of our weight). So we deduct as we go down (and am not even thinking about going up). Friday is weigh in day.....

Trying to motivate myself to do some exercise. I've given up with running. Every time I do it, my knees hurt for two weeks afterwards, so I fear I really am not built for it. Shame, as it was so easy to fit into the day and I could feel myself making progress fitness-wise.

Feeling very fat and unfit, with the core strength of a piece of chewed string. I can only do a plank for about 10 seconds without shaking like a leaf, which I suspect isn't very good.

Report
motherinferior · 13/06/2014 09:29

Herbs, have you tried any of the numerous knee-strengthening exercises out there? I have to say running isn't great for my knees either but I've minimised the pain to a point where the tradeoff is worth it.

Not that I've run since Monday's debacle when octogenarians speeded past me. I'm going to wait till next Monday when I should, I hope, have finally shaken off the exhausting lurgy.

I am not going near the scales atm - too many visitors and too much drinking and eating. Try an exercise bike, Herbs; I have one which I mostly use in the winter. I record something that I really want to watch and then set the bike up in front of the TV (it's the only way I can cope with the boredom).

Thinking about our friend, Wilbur, and hoping it all goes well.

Amy very jealous to hear about your gorgeous weather - it's dull and grey here and have decided not to put out the washing before I go for my manicure and pedicure as I just know it will rain.

Hey ho, must go now.

I've tried strengthening around the knee - lunges, seated leg raises, etc - but the pain is right inside my knee, where the bones and kneecap meet. Something is out of alignment. They don't hurt when I run, but for a couple of weeks afterwards if I step up a kerb, for example, with my knee bent at a particular angle it's excrutiating. I feel this cannot be good.

Report
motherinferior · 13/06/2014 09:47

In that case, yes, I fear you may be right.

Herbs, like you I spent yesterday in my Madrid's and got a football blister. I've only had them about 9 years though, so that's fair enough Hmm

Report
herbaceous · 13/06/2014 10:30

I get the feeling Madrids aren't for walking any distance in, and are not ideal for chasing a small boy on a scooter who insists on going 100 yards ahead, round bends, near busy roads.

Today I shall mostly be wearing my lemon-print Sainsbury's dress, which I note are now on eBay, STARTING at £25. I knew I had good taste!

Oh, and ToT - minus one pound. In however many weeks it's been. Admittedly I haven't been rigorous in my diet, but I've pretty much cut out wheat (bread, pasta) and cut down on carbs, don't eat sugary stuff, do at least one fast day a week and do lots of walking. It's not fair.

Oh Wilbur good vibes for your expectant friend; but how exciting tooSmile

Went to see poor old ddad yesterday. Crepeys , he's still not too well. Now he has to have a procedure to open one of his heart valves( keyhole , as too decrepit for open heart surgery)
Followed by two cataracts removed, followed by an exploratory procedure to find out why his bladder has a blockage. He's quite terrified by the whole thing. I'm desperately trying to think of something that will lift him for Father's Day.Sad but what??
He is glued to the US open so at least that's something..

Poor old dad, crem. Sad

All I can think of is booze, but that may not be wise.

Report
hattymattie · 13/06/2014 11:43

Oh Crem all those procedures a sound very daunting - what about the World Cup - will that not take his mind off things?

Wilbur - fingers crossed for the long awaited baby.

I am having a very exciting morning defrosting the freezer. Every now and then I hear the crash of falling ice - I thought a very hot day would be a good time to tackle it.

I keep wanting to know about Wilbur's friend (whom I sing with sometimes) too...
