If you have really dry skin what foundation do you use?

I'm using clinique better than erm...something! Foundation. It's all cakey and powdery on my face.
I use Nivea express hydration primer

And bottom butter as a moisturiser

What now?

I'm fed up of this! :(

Some of the Dior foundations are pretty good. If you don't mind a light coverage try a tinted moisturiser?

I use Bobbie brown. I use cliniques dramatically whatever moisturiser, followed by BB primer (which I love) and then their foundation and this does the trick and lasts...

Very interested in this thread. I recently bought Estée Lauder DW which was to thick and cakey, thrived to EL DW light n well it's too light

Try a mineral foundation . Much better for dry skin. I use body shop one and its lovely, not cakey at all!

You need a better moisturiser. Bottom butter is a barrier cream, not a moisturiser.

I have super dry skin (and eczema). I am currently using Simple replenishing moisturiser which is proving very effective (I'm usually a brand snob so am presently surprised by this discovery). My foundation is Chanel vitalumiere.

I second Bobbi Brown tinted moisturiser. It's lovely and great for dry skin. I use Dior Forever foundation.

I have horrible dry flaky skin, combined with cystic acne and lots of red acne scarring to my face. I have got the cystic acne under control with epiduo cream on prescription and I was using a face wash but I think washing with water was aggravating the dryness, so I am using a wipe off nivea cleanser which has improved things.

I use simple moisturisers and for foundation I am mixing a blob of clarins beauty flash balm with a smaller blob of rimmel matte foundation, mixing them together and then applying to the face. This has really improved the flaky cakey look.

I'm the same, everything goes caked and powdery on me even with a primer. I am using Garnier Miracle Cream at the moment which just gives a touch of colour while moisturising but cannot find anything with any coverage that is ok

I have dry skin mainly in patches on my forehead and cheeks. Moisturiser and foundation used to be a nightmare. I swapped to using Salcura in January and have had no dry skin since. The best foundation IMO is Chanel vitalumiere aqua.

Use dermaflannel then touche eclat - looks like you are not wearing foundation!!!

I have really dry skin. There are two moisturisers that I really like -YSL touche eclat foundation and chantecaille oil free gel foundation. The chantecaille one has better coverage, but the YSL one makes my skin glow.

I also like Laura Mercier tinted moisturiser for summer.

I have really dry skin. The only thing that has cleared up my dry patches is Origins Make a Difference moisturiser in the evening and then a decent primer in the morning.

I've started using Laura Mercier Moisture Supreme foundation and it is gorgeous. Really smooth, blends fabulously and good coverage without being cakey.

I have had a lot of comments about my dewy skin since using these products.

I used Chanel when my skin was dry. I actually think I was just overcleansing (and using acne creams) and not moisturising enough. Now that I've sorted my acne, I use the intensive Cetaphil moisturiser under Revlon Colorstay or Lancome foundation and no longer have dryness issues. I had really flaky, dry awful skin for a while and it was impossible to get foundation to look decent.

Really dry skin here too. I use sunflower oil for cleansing and use Astral for day and Nivea for night. Skin is glowing. I use Rimmel Match Perfection foundation.

Your diet can help improve dry skin too - loads of water, good fats like avocado, olive oil, nuts. No fags. Watch the booze, sugar and caffeine.

Really dry skin here. I use MAC Mineralize Moisture SPF 15 foundation, and I also use their Prep and Prime. I find my skin doesn't look patchy or flaky when I wear it.

Have you tried mixing a moisturiser into foundation? I mix Clinique's moisturiser into their most moisturising foundation before applying.

A lot of the other brands I've tried (MAC, Bobbi Brown etc) have aggravated my eczema.

I second the YSL foundation. Dewy and not at all drying. I also use maybelline dream satin liquid (maternity leave meant I could afford the YSL Sad).

I use Dead Sea magic moisturiser underneath.
