Hi ladies, just marking my place. Life extremely busy but I still pop in and read your chat when I can

Couple of good purchases to share, nice navy and ivory snake print top from m and s www.marksandspencer.com/faux-snakeskin-print-top/p/p22272076. And my Boden navy Chelsea turn ups are just fab www.boden.co.uk/en-GB/Womens-Trousers-Jeans/Trousers/WM357/Womens-Chelsea-Turn-up.html. Proper game changing trousers!

And I do love a new scarf for the spring so treated myself to this cute little number

Hi Gilly. Love that scarf! Must resist - have way too many. O'm umming and ahhhing over those Boden trousers - is the waist small? i cant usually get Boden trousers/skirts to fit as my waist is too big Hmm for size.

I bought this yesterday from New Look. Not meant to be spending but it was cute and reduced!

Hmm. Not sure if the last two are worky enough - dress is business casual (like everywhere else in the city) but that generally means you can get away without a matching jacket to a suit - still pretty smart.

And - husband agreed last week to try for DC3. Shock Am very excited although trying not to get my hopes up. Am a lot older this time round so it will probably take a while - and there's a higher risk of problems etc.

Anyways, back to CLOTHES - I hope most of my work clothes won't fit in a few months but I still needed some new trousers etc as my work clothes appear to all be falling apart at the same time. (Job is a 9 month maternity cover by the way - sadly no mat pay...!)

Beginner that's so exciting!!

Mumelie I'm a definite apple shape and so my waist isn't my strong point at all! I find these trousers a great shape for me, plenty of stretch in them which helps

Joycey, sorry I'm a bit out of the loop, how are things?

Report
BeginnerSAHM · 15/04/2014 08:53

And I'm a pear shape so the lovely Boden Chelsea trousers may well not work for me. Banana republic petite sloane did though.

Thanks Gilly. Fingers crossed...

Oh like that work wear Beginner - that's what i need at the moment (although probably a bit more casual than yours). Good luck with DC No3! I couldn't get DH to even agree to No2 sadly.

Have ordered the Boden Chelsea Turnups (in black!) and will see the fit. I am strangely an hourglass so have a defined waist - just a high rise so waist bands hit me too low down on my wobbly mum tum! So the waist measurement is kind of in the middle of my hips instead of on my waist

Ah, Mumelie, that's a shame. And h/ never budged?

Let me know how you get on with the Chelsea turn-ups then - I at least must have a similar bottom half to you Blush. Just lacking the curvy top half (sadly).

Hello fellow springs

So my recent purchases include:

BR trousers in petite so properly cropped

lightweight jumper

harem trousers to wear with bright green T-shirt.

I'm really annoyed that having waited for spring to come the shops of full of pastels !!

Hi - does anybody have the boden cropped cashmere cardigan?? If so, what are the most springy colours (in real life)? I'd like one to wear with a navy dress and navy work trousers/skirts. Thanks!!

Mumelie · 16/04/2014 10:31

Hi Beginner. I have quite a few Boden cropped cashmere cardis - only 1 from this year though which is the ivory one and it does match Spring shade of cream in our swatches. I tried the Persian green hoping it would be a mint green but its really cold and made me look ill. Most of the good colours for us have sold out! i have a turquoise one from last year similar to the bright topaz which is good (but sold out!).

Hi I'm back. How are you all? I have missed chatting about our colours. I was trying to avoid buying new stuff but I haven't succeeded.

I wanted to avoid blue as I always end up with it so bought a lovely coral pink top and an apple green (don't usually do green) from the white stuff sale. have also ordered a cream cardigan from hobbs.

I have been on the Boden website and ordered an Iris coloured top, blue I know but I didn't like the other colours. Ivory makes me look washed out.

Hi Agatha - I'm a bright spring as well! Welcome to the thread.
The Boden cashmere cardi in ivory is a very soft colour you may find it suits especially with a light tan. I'm dark haired so good for me (when I was a blonde I'd blend into one with the cardi!).

Thanks all! I had a little ASOS splurge yesterday on two yellow midi skirts (will send one back), an orangey red French Connection jumper and a dusky pink tea dress. Am all about the colour at the moment and looking forward to getting rid of a lot of my black! Is this short lived optimism?!

Got my HoC colours done recently and am so pleased there are so many Blue Springs on MN Grin

I'm very much a bluey/greeny cooler Spring. My 100% ** colours are:

  • Dove Grey
  • Oxford Blue
  • Leaf Green
  • Violet
  • Hyacinth
  • Aqua
  • Turquoise
  • Aquamarine

These colours are also good (and easier to find on the High St) in combo with another colour:

  • Bright Navy
  • Beige (!)
  • Honey (!)
  • Banana (!)
  • Peach (!)
  • Coral
  • Poppy
  • Flamingo Pink
  • Bright Blue

I'm very happy with all the bright, strong colours but the pastels/neutrals have floored me. I've had to resort to ripping out pages of an old Trinny & Susannah book to try and figure out what colours go with them.

Luckily my wardrobe is already stuffed full of greens & blues but it's been a revelation to know I'm okay with bright pinks, warm purples and yellows too. Now I just have to figure out how to put them all together and get rid of the black

Can anyone recommend what to wear with a dark navy suit to brighten it up (a lot) and what to wear with a greeny-turquoise work shirt? Was thinking of getting a dark grey skirt to go with it but not sure now.
