Are you a winter colouring? If so come and join us for chat about clothes/make up following on from part 1 here and part 2 here

Do you want to know more about what a winter is? These resources are good places to start here and here.

Scared to try bright lipstick? Previous winter favourite makeup items include Mac Plumful, Revlon Lip Butters in Berry Smoothie and Red Velvet and Revlon gloss in Bordeaux. They are all good places to start without being scarily bright for a newly diagnosed winter. More makeup tips can be found here and by reading through previous threads.

Hey kosher can't believe we're on part 3 already! I haven't been posting much so on s&b lately but I have been buying.

I bought an iced blue cardi from gap which doesn't seem to be online. It's one of the really good ice colours for me and it's nice to have something pale for a change rather than really bright colours. I also bought the lansdend Emerald Isle cardi so I finally have an emerald cardi!! I bought the xs and it is too big but at £12 I van live with that.

lansdend cardi.

Does anyone have a raspberry lipstick? My current favourite is the revlon lip butter raspberry pie but I'm after a proper lipstick in a similar colour. I have a quick look in boots the other day but couldn't find anything I liked.

Stupid phone! I kept waiting for somebody else (ie you Queen!) to start another thread but thought is do it myself!
I wish I could wear ice colours but they look terrible on me.
I've not bought anything other than a pair of high waisted skinny coated jeans. I have my style day provisionally booked for the last weekend in April, although I have 1lb to go until I can confirm it. It's my 2 stone weight loss present to myself.

kosher that's a fantastic achievement. You can easily lose a lb by end of April.

Just caught up on the end of the old thread.

foogle hoc 62 is my favourite too. It is quite in your face fuschia but does wonders for my eyes. I tend to wear it mainly at night though and stick to something a bit more sheer during the day.

clavicle any of our colours goes with stone. I wish I could wear stone/mole as they're good basic colours but they're a bit meh on me. You could wear a neutral coloured top and just add colour with accessories if you feel the brights are too much.

Hello, I am a winter - not sure which type but suit the darker colours in the palette best. However I've decided I am not limiting myself only to these colours as I will get bored. I've been looking for ice colours at the moment as I think they will look really good in the summer with a tan.

I bought this and wanted to get your advice about the colour and if it is a yes or a no. I want to think it is light emerald but I think it might not be...could a winter wear

this sweatshirt?

Re lipsticks, I have bought a few which haven't worked for me - I am happy to pop in the post for anyone who would be interested. They are:

NYC 405 - a fuschia pink - QueenC may work for you? I don't think I've even tried it on as it is so similar to raspberry pie and I prefer the finish of that one.

(I did get the red NYC recommended on here and I love it so Flowers to whoever recommended it, sorry I can't remember]

The other lipstick is revlon black cherry 477 - much too dark for me sadly.

Mr Pop - that sweatshirt looks like a spring green? Too pale to be emerald green.

A couple of people asked how I got on with my big wardrobe clear out last Sunday after my confirmation as a winter (burnished) on Saturday. Well, five (!) bags of clothes went to the charity shop and another two are ready to go to the dress agency.

Have a couple of small piles of stuff to try dying navy or burlesque red (Dylon).

Much of my stuff is the right colour but there were still lots of things I don't wear any more or are too big so they went too. Wrong coloured items were mainly bags and shoes. Bags have gone but I've kept the nude and tan shoes because I like them for spring and summer.

I'd like some grey kitten heels though - courts or sling backs. And, maybe navy too.

I now have a wish list and have already bought a black shirt and ordered a navy cardi. I'd like a bright cardi too - dark emerald/royal purple/lobelia/raspberry/carmine - any of those would be good. Preferably a cropped style. Bought a magenta vest top in Next today.

Got some white linen trousers but sent them back - I am never sure about them. I have navy and will stick to those I think.

Have tweaked my make up a bit. Mainly brighter lips and have swapped my brown defining shadow for something closer to mole. The true greys look a bit stark on me I think.

Will be purchasing some of the recommended lipsticks - already ordered the Revlon Bordeaux lip gloss as suggested.

Am loving the whole process Smile

Wow pink that's lots of clearing!
I like idea if white linen trousers but worry a) see through and b) should prob slim big bum in dark colours... Maybe one day!
mrpop, sorry link not working on my phone.
What's the NYC lippy can you recall? I'm not sure if I can do much burgundy. Bit too strong on me.
Will maybe try mixing 62 with balm in a pot to soften it...
Like glosses two though bit sticky...
Where d anyone get red velvet revlon from?

I've recently done a similar purge pink It's really liberating! I literally asked each item if it fitted me well and I loved it Hmm

Since then I've had a conversation in my head when I buy clothes:

Are you stylish?
Are you feminine?

It fits with my classic/'smidge' of ingénue style day.

I have a LOT of basics now - just need to add some magic :)

Wow pink that all sounds great. A big clear out is deeply satisfying.

foogle I think I got my red velvet from boots online.

Sorry, should have introduced myself Blush

Sultry winter, newly diagnosed classic with a hint of ingénue and newly 50! Struggling like everyone else with the brightness after years in muted colours.

Fooogle the colour of the NYC is blue rose.

pinkflaming0 · 12/03/2014 20:13

I've got the HoC burgundy lipstick (great colour on me but texture a bit dry) and I have a red fairly sheer No.7 red lipstick but I'd like a pink.

What's a good pink for a burnished winter? The deeper more muted colours in the winter palette suit me best.

Revlon lip butter in raspberry pie maybe?

Fooogle · 12/03/2014 22:54

There's quite a nice pink in boots natural collection called raspberry I think. It may be a tiny bit soft for us but maybe good for a shy day... I also really white like the boots seventeen sheer type ones. I've got Hollywood red and bolshie (pink) but there may be some good burgundy ones?

Clinique Chubby Stick in pudgy peony is a sheerer, less scary version of HOC's fuschia lipstick

Yes Fooogle re. white linen trousers I worry about being see thru, I just hate it when you can see the lining of the pockets on white trousers, and the creasing just looks worse on light coloured fabrics. Re. bum - I'm size 8 and 5'10" and I don't think they do me any favours!

Have ordered some white trousers from Gap - will see what they're like.

I really am an autumn and winter person with clothes - I find it hardest to dress for summer. Probably well suited to living in the UK. Smile

Thanks for the lipstick suggestions and Maraki too.

Ladies, I am after some help please. It's my birthday at the end of this month am having a party. I'm a jewel winter and natural romantic style. I've seen this dress that I like BUT its between number 8 and number 12 in the colour wallet. (I cant find the booklet with the names in them). Both those colours are my 100%

Has anyone seen anything similar but in a closer match? I've searched HoF, Debenhams, John Lewis, Monsoon online and gone into most of the shops at Bluewater.

Thank you

That purple should be ok - as long as its a very similar colour to your swatch, is clear, cool and bold its a winter colour.

Thank you. Still trying to get the hang of it all. My wardrobe is mainly black/navy so am slowly trying to inject some colour into it as well as patterns! But that's another thread altogether.
