So, work xmas party this Fri. My first ever one!

I need to/want to look HAWT! Grin

Outfit sorted: black and deep purple bodycon knee length dress, black and gold accessories, nude legs and black shoe boots.

makeup wise i usually just wear a little powder and always have eyebrows on Grin

what lip colour do i wear? i never wear lip colour. i stick to vaseline and burts bees as i have dry lips and can be prone to coldsores.

im quite very pale with blue eyes and my lashes are quite short so any make up tips will be great. please help me Grin

Your outfit sounds really great!

Not sure about lipstick colours, I wear a 'nude' lipstic as it suits my colouring, what about a light pink? I don't think I'd go with anything too bold if you are pale.

I would consider Revlon Lip Butters or maybe going to Clinique and seeing the chubby sticks. Both are quite moisturising and have lots of colours.

Clinique will probably try them on your lips so that might be a good choice if you are unsure colour wise.

I would take the dress into a shop with lots of make up counters try on a few different colours to see how they look.

If it's got purple in the dress u probably could do with a more purple/blue tone than orange /pink. Have a boot of fun trying them on and ask the assistants advice too. u can get mega moisturising lipsticks now Grin

You could do something in the style of this look: lisaeldridge.com/video/25997/easy-effortless-winged-liner-anyone-can-achieve/
or
lisaeldridge.com/video/25921/easy-3-minute-smokey-eye/

You don't need to buy the same products that she's using in the video, just something that has roughly the same colours.

If you're just looking for a lip colour, I think a berry colour would be nice with a black and purple dress.

If you're not so comfortable with lipsticks or not used to wearing lipstick, you can wear it as a stain.
I like putting on lip balm, then patting a little bit of lipstick on top. When I started wearing lipsticks, I'd wear it like that as a full red/dark berry/pink mouth felt a bit too much for me. I find that the stain/mix of balm and lipstick is great for an everyday look as well.

Rimmel Starry night or Maybelline Always plum.

Lisa E. recommended them in one of her videos as "your lips but better"
You must apply with your fingertips though, dab it in, so they are like a stain, blot with tissue, dab some more.
It will stay sheer, but will last a long time.
They are too dark otherwise.

You're wearing strong colours and it's an evening do, so I'd do as follows if you're not used to wearing makeup (they're all stuff you can get in Boots/Superdrug). You will need some drama:

Do your usual plus...

Mascara: Max Factor 2000 Calorie Mascara. Black or Brown if black is too much.

Pencil eyeliner: In black. A soft one so you can blend with a q-tip. I don't use pencil all that often unless it's a wacky colour, so I'd say stick with something like Revlon or Max Factor. Just get a soft black pencil.

Blusher: Max Factor Miracle Touch cream blush. Is super and buildable. Can be soft or more dramatic, you will need it because you need...

LIPSTICK!: Don't go nude. You are probably leaving your eyes mostly nude other than mascara/bit of eyeliner so you need to balance it out and make it more dramatic for the evening. I like Revlon, myself, and think maybe a mid-berry-red would be nice. Don't go too wan and don't go too mad (unless you feel like it!). Try out a few testers.

It might be an idea to try out your look when you get some free time, just to practice how to wear it.

EXTRA MEASURES TO MAKE U LOOK SUPER-ER:

Foundation: Bourjois Healthy Mix if you have normal/combo skin. Healthy Mix Serum if you have dry skin. Powder it. You can just stick with your usual powder if this is a bridge too far.

Eyeshadow: MUA Undressed palette from Superdrug. It suits everyone and is good for day or night.

^ That Rimmel one looks VERY hard to wear. It looks all squooshy and that it wouldn't last two shakes of a dogs' tit.

The Maybelline one does look good though.

Also have a look at the Maybelline Superstay 24. It comes in a tube with a balm and is really easy to use + stays on foreverrrrr.

BBTW, your lips are dry because you're using vaseline.

If that winged eyeliner is "effortless" then why is the video 14 minutes long? Hmm

Went to the outlet mskeup shop and got a revlon liquid lipstick in a pink, it looks lovely with the purple and isnt too dark or too in your face. it goes on like a gloss but dries matt so isnt sticky and stays on for ages. really impressed Smile
