Silicone and SlS free disaster!

Well, After reading all the positive comments on here and all over the net, I thought I'd give it a go to see if it could help my fine, bleached strawlike mess that is supposed to be hair.
I persevered for nearly 2 weeks but my hair is in a worse state than before, frizzy, wispy and dry :(
I've been out today and bought the Trevor Sorbie stuff for frizzy hair and an hoping that a massive dose of silicone and the other 'bad stuff' will work some magic
Just wondered how you all got on with a more natural hair care range? Really don't think it suits my hair... At least I might be able to get a comb through it now.

Please tell me I'm not a failure, maybe there's a reason for all this stuff being in conditioners :(

Glad it's not just me then...Wink
Really can't wait to use my new Bad Stuff in the morning!
I wonder if all the natural stuff works better if your hair is in fabulous conditioner to start with?

Me too - a week in of using Weleda calendula and chamomile shampoo and my hair is horrible! Rally lank and greasy. What I am doing wrong? It was £8 a bottle!

I've recently changed over to the Naked range in Boots and have found it to be pretty good 2 weeks down the line. Not all of it is silicone free but I have been using the intensive stuff which is.

Naked range turned my fine, colour treated hair to straw.
L'Oreal Everpure wasn't as bad but created frizz like you wouldn't believe.
Liz Earle shampoo is, annoyingly, much better, and does make my hair look fab, but at twice the price.

The L'Oreal Everpure worked beautifully for my hair for a week but 3 weeks in and my hair is a frizzy mess :(. Going to try Aussie Mega Shampoo & Volumising conditioner in an attempt to restore it.

I'm sls free as otherwise dye just doesn't touch my greys (still very stubborn with sls free shampoo). I hate that the sls free shampoos produce no suds and my hair doesn't feel as clean or shiny. And it's a bitch to comb through after showering. I've read somewhere that you can wash your hair with conditioner only (which is sls free) but that would just plaster my already lank hair straight onto my forehead.

My hairdresser was horrified after I secretly switched to sls free. She told me my hair had great big dandruff-like flakes stuck to my scalp and demanded to know what on earth I'd been doing Blush

Haha! Not all its cracked up to be then obviously Wink

Have to say though, I hated the Trevor Sorbie stuff too, awful artificial perfume to it which stayed around all day!

Going to try the Elvive range with the Keretin in. :)

The Elvive range is great. I have found Full Restore 5 & the royal jelly versions to be very effective.

I was the same,I have cube to the conclusion I need siliconesGrin

I need silicones! Tresemme platinum strength all the way and it's jam full of them. I use Head and Shoulders once a month or so and it gives my hair a deep clean so I can keep using them Blush I do use oils and shit too but the silicones make it shiny.

I think intensive heat styling like GhDing is worse than silicones.

I used the naked ones and had dry, frizzy, greasy lank hair. For 4 days and then I went back to usual stuff.

Same here!

I tried the body Shop rainforest stuff and my long hair became a tangled frizzy mess. I was losing so much hair each time I brushed it, trying to get the knots out!

I'm back to the chemically stuff, my hair is so much nicer alreadyConfused

Phew! Tried the Aussie Mega Shampoo & Conditioner this morning. Happy to report that whilst it will be a while before my hair is completely restored, it has at least bounced back somewhat with the first wash. It is at least shiny from roots to mid-lengths. Sadly the lower parts still look depleted but not frizzy or razor-cut!

Oh and the shampoo smells DIVINE. Have promptly binned the EverPure.

You have to get rid of existing silicone on your hair before going sls and silicone free! So use a clarifying shampoo with loads of sls in it! And then silicone free conditioner. Then start with sls free shampoo and silicone free conditioner toutine. Tresemme naturals conditioners are very good and provide lots of moisture and slip. After washing I use a drop of oil either coconut or almond as a leave in conditioner. That seals in the moisture keeping it smooth.
And deep condition once a week!

DD (13) uses that and she has beautiful hair. It has never had any hair dye on it thought, so perhaps that makes a difference?
