How do I stop my skin going red?

No matter what I put on my skin, it ends up blotchy with red patches on chin and cheeks halfway through the day and I just feel so self conscious. If I get hot or stressed its even worse. I'm 43 and its becoming more and more of a problem. I have fairly pale skin, with freckles so its quite noticeable.
My routine is after shower, moisturiser wait 10 mins primer wait 10 mins foundation. I use a light moisturiser, l'oreal studio primer and alternate between bourjois healthy mix and a Lancôme teint miracle foundation. It usually all looks ok when I put it on and no redness but within hours I may as well have not bothered!
Any advice where I'm going wrong?

Do you think you might be developing an allergy to your makeup?? New skin allergies can develop gradually over time.

I became allergic to my watch in my late 30s. At first it just started to make my skin go a little red and blotchy if I wore it too long, and also a bit itchy if I sweated, so I took to wearing it just for work. Then, after one unusually long workday followed by a work dinner, it suddenly started to itch so badly it felt like my skin was on fire. When I took it off my wrist looked like it had been painted with red paint under the watch and strap; the rash lasted several weeks before finally fading. I had to stop wearing my watch completely. I've since developed new allergies to plasters, rubber gloves, my glasses, and cheap jewellry, and now use hypoallergenic versions of everything that touches my skin.

What moisturiser are you using? And face wash?

Oh and ime Bare Minerals concealor is the best thing for redness.

My skin is clearly more sensitive as I get older but doesn't seem like an allergy, I've used lots of different foundations & primers in the last year.
I use the super drug version of beauty flash as a moisturiser and when I wash my face (not very often!!) I use Liz Earle c&p. I never use it in the morning, my face goes bright red! I only wash my face at night about twice a week, just a flannel in the shower otherwise. After c&p I use facial oil. Am I really skanky?! Just so knackered with the kids/house/job I fall into bed.

Does it happen when you wear no makeup at all?

Maybe the muslin cloth is a bit harsh?

It might be rosacea, in which case the GP can prescribe creams which can help.

Stop the C&P.

I only use the c&p twice a week, how can it be such a problem?

It did the same to me.
Or stop for a week or two and see of it's better.

Suppose it's worth a go but don't have anything else! I always wear foundation as my skin looks really uneven and blotchy otherwise.
Looked at pics of Rosacea, could be I certainly have the broken capillaries and flushing. I shall ask my gp but not sure about steroids! Thanks all.

It sounds like rosacea. You def shouldn't be getting steroids for that!! Antibiotics, rosex cream/gel or Finacea cream/gel. Those are what you need. Go and see your GP.

Catch it early. It helps.

Rozex is great. Cleared my skin up really quickly.
