Parka

Can you help? I'd love a new parka this year. Bum covering. Maybe blue, grey, black or dark green. Ideally at least showerproof and with an actual waist. I see people in ones I like but have scoured the internet and not really happened upon one. Do any of you have such a thing? Thanks

I've recently bought this one - m.debenhams.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/prod_10701_10001_037010150933_-1?m-referrer=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.google.co.uk%2F

It doesn't look like it has a waist but it has drawstrings you can pull in on the inside.

I do like the look of it. Is it also warm though?

I've only worn it a couple of times, I wouldn't say it's amazingly warm but there's room for a decent jumper underneath! Equally though, it's not as cold as some jackets I've had.

I bought this one last week and love it! It's very cosy when zipped up to the neck and the hood is lovely. It looks like it will be shower proof but I've yet to wear in the rain.

I like that one actually. Would never think to look there. Might give it a go. Thanks.

I do like that! What colour did you get? I could be tempted by the red actually.

I've just ordered the target dry Georgia in the blue. If you put SCHOOLGATE15 in the code box you get 15% off too.

Am deciding between ones from Poetry/Fat Face/White Stuff at the moment. Around £100 new but there are some on eBay...

I got the blue, I really like it. Forgot about the discount code Blush but I think it's a real bargain.

Imwoodword I like that coat. What's the sizing like? I'm only 5'3 so slightly worried it would be really long on me.

I share your problem. I was going to get the Poetry one but it has sold out already. So I will watch this thread with interest.

I considered this (25% off with code 0747).

But bought this, not been delivered yet though.

Both are cotton, but can be (and mine will be) sprayed with waterproofing spray to make them showerproof.

Jemster it comes to mid thigh (literally!) on the front and the back is slightly lower, so it covers all of my bum and stops about an inch or so above my knee pit. I'm 5'6. If I give it a but of a tug when sitting down it means I'm sitting totally on it rather than a bench or whatever.

Hope that makes sense!

Thanks. Would not have thought of some of these places.

I just bought the target dry one in blue. I am only shirt at 5 foot 2 so it may go back if it swamps me!!

I'm loving all the parkas on this thread, I'm looking for one and these are all exactly what I'm looking look. I'm umming and ahhhing between the Miss Selfridge one and the H&M one (I think I just prefer the missS one but H&M a lot cheaper).

werenotreallyhere · 17/09/2013 15:48

The other consideration is H&M delivery takes ages and knowing my luck it won't be in store.

I love the Target Dry Parka. I'm quite busty though - not sure whether to size up because of that - any thoughts?

I wondered that too. I definitely want more of a nylon finish I think. Like target dry one.

Timberland do some great waterproof coats.

Pricy though, if you remember go on the website January/February time and they really reduce.

I get my boots every year at half price and got a down coat for 75 reduced from £250!!

I've got the H&M one. It's lovely and cosy but the lining is detachable - 2 for the price of 1!

Report
wrigglebum · 18/09/2013 23:00

Ooh, just ordered that Target Dry one, couldn't resist at that price! If it's a keeper I'll be very pleased- it's £160 cheaper than one I was considering the other day!

I ordered a 12 so I hope it doesn't come up too large- I'd like room for a jumper or fleece underneath for really chilly days but I don't want it absolutely massive.
