Boden Rainy Day Mac

Where can I get one from? This year's styles are all a bit drab and my one from about 4 years ago is getting a bit shabby looking. I want a bright printed one (I have the green and navy flower print which I love so much).

Looked on eBay but there's nothing there of any note, where else could I look? Or does anyone have any suggestions for alternatives?

I think it was sea salt that has similar ones.
I prefer the muted ones though

MrsFruitcake I'm afraid I don't know, but can I ask you about the mac? I am in the market and it looks good. Is it man enough to cope with averagely wet weather? I'd probably stay indoors wear something else if it was really pouring down. As is it a bit straight up and down? I am quite curvy and I need it to have at least a suggestion of a waist.

MrsH, yes, it is properly waterproof if dry cleaned only - I've had mine years and it's never let me down. The hood is lovely and big too which helps.

I don't think they've changed the shape, but mine does go in at the waist a bit and then back out again - I'm curvy too. Hope this helps!

Neither of mine stood up to heavy rain. Wet arms.

Ta MrsF :)

Not too concerned about heavy rain cos I've got a plan B for those days (I'll just stay indoors...)

I'm sure ebay will have a lot more over the next few weeks. Children are back at school and people will list their autumn stuff....

Mine is about 4 years old, it doesn't go in at the waist really - I've never worn it though, poor old sad lonely rainy day mac Sad

MrsF, if you might be interested in mine then do give me a shout. It's purple circles on a green background, with bright green lining.

I looked terrible in it, it's not my colours at all! The style is like this but the colour as I described and the finish is more like a shiny oilskin type finish.

I wouldn't recommend Boden Rainy Day Macs at all I'm afraid.
OP, after you bought yours, about 4 years ago, they changed the fabric.
It is no longer waterproof!
They say it's 'showerproof', but I have proved twice that it is not even that.
I purchased the Navy Floral one last year, it took me a month to realise it was rubbish. I was drenched! Arms and chest area.
Boden exhanged it for the plain Navy.. again it was the same.
Seasalt is great.. it's called Tincloth, and it is well and truly waterproof.

Ronners - if the OP isn't interested in your mac I might be, what size?

I've got last years, its grey and black with a bright pink fleece inling. It's in fab condition but its too big for me as I lost 3 stone. It's a 16 so if anyone is interested pm me and I'll send pics. This one was my second one and I love them - they are warm but not bulky and always cheery.

My Boden rainy day coat started wearing out (holes near several seams, particularly on arms) before the end of one winter (I did wear it pretty much every day and do a lot of walking). It couldn't cope with more than a light shower. I have a winter squall coat from lands end now which is slightly less stylish but properly warm and waterproof so far.

Katz, hi, it's a 10 I think, it's quite capacious though. You could get a thick jumper underneath it iyswim.

Oh and it's the older fabric - just found photo of it from 2009 when I put it on ebay and no one bid! Smile So I am fairly sure it's waterproof.

Sadly I need a 14 I think, would love to be a 10 though!

Sorry to hijack but was wondering how warm these are? Am really tempted by one these as a more casual coat as last years coat is still good to go and my North Face all weather one is on it's last legs.

I didn't get the impression that they are very warm, when I tried mine on.
The lining is nice but it isn't what I would call a warm coat.

Elsiequadrille · 08/09/2013 15:00

It's not warm at all, even with the fleece lining (tried mine out today). Am sorry to hear my new one is unlikely to be waterproof, too.
