This A/W must have is a PINK COAT

According to the fashion glossies.

In my defence, I only read mags (like Red, Marie-Claire) in August on holiday (I don't have the time or inclination to read them any other time)
So the Sept issues said "If you only buy one thing to update your A/W wardrobe, it has to be a pink coat"

(last year they said brocade and paisley and I was very pleased but saw pretty much none )

As the other trend seems to be plether trim.... I think I'll go down the pink coat route Grin

Anyone seen or bought a nice pink coat? What shade?
Baby? Dusky? Barbie?

Lovely light dusky pink coat in French Connection. I would look DIRE in it.

There are two Zara ones in Grazia. I'd love one, I suit a bubblegum pink, but they're mostly quite princessy or car-coat-ish and as a SAHM I'd prefer a duffle or peacoat for slobbing around in.

I was going to mention the dusky pink Hobbs' one Orange has already mentioned. I think they may have a 15 or 20% promotion soon.

The only trouble I have with these must-have pieces is that everybody will be wearing them and a pink coat is a very stand-out thing to wear. Also if it is so must-have this year then you won't be able to wear it next year as it will be over by then.

I suspect there will be lots of these left in the sales. They do look pretty but won't go with lots of other stuff and are very much a one season wonder.

Never buy winter fashion this early IME.

Remember that horrendous h and m brocade range?

I used to have a pink coat, it was lovely but really looked hideous on me, it washed me out completely.

I'll keep hunting for a good winter coat

This is nice but doubt it will be in a store near me anytime soon, also can't see it online.

I have a lovely bright pink winter coat. Bought it in warehouse 2 years ago. I'm kinda disappointed its going to be "in fashion". I liked standing out when everyone else was in black and grey.

There was a beautiful beautiful pink coat on the M&S Belinda Earl preview. It's nowhere to be seen on their website though.

How frustrating is that?

Toast had a nice one for about £112 in their archive sale too.

It's difficult to see how this trend will last.

Pink can look great if you have dark skin, or a tan.

If you're pale skinned, you can look totally washed out, and unless you're thin can look like a pig! I had a pink suit when I was younger, and saw a photo of myself in it recently... Oh dear! I was pale looking and it was porcine.

Also, I think a pink coat will show up the dirt very easily on the cuffs, and anywhere you've sat on anything.

I think I'll stick to my hot pink bag, and have a charcoal or black coat again this year.
Ill have a pink scarf: bright pink, not this dusty coral and pastel pink tone.

I rememeber buying a pink coat about 20 years ago. Didn't get much wear out of it. Won't be doing it again.

I hope all the pink coats mean that pink vests and tshirts will be findable as well. I've been looking for replacements for old knackered ones for about two years, and proper pastel pink just can't be had anywhere.

Yes in my head I can see myself wafting around in the dusky pink M&S coat if it ever appears in the shop or online. But I do know really that

  1. It is not a practical colour
  2. My lifestyle does not suit that sort of coat
  3. It will get filthy very quickly
  4. i will probably look like a big pink pig in it and it will not suit me.

I have a hot pink boiled wool car coat from Fenn Wright Manson from last year which will do the job for me, despite Red mag saying 'pink but not hot pink'.

Maybe the M&S coat has taken inspiration from Percy Pig!

I was coveting a dusty pink coat in Uniqlo but I'd look like a giant prawn Sad. Not a good look.

(Bought a grey coat for my tiny size 6 daughter instead)

Me too Angelina - I love that bubblegum mid pink, it suits me and isn't often available. I have a longline vest from Mamas and Papas of all places in a lovely mid pink that's on its last legs. A coat is a step too far though.
