I'm after a waterproof, bum covering, hard wearing yet stylish autumn and winter coat!

For a reasonable price. Say, under £150.

I'd quite like a hood as optional due to buggy pushing.

They don't exist, do they?

Hiya , I've got this seasalt one

www.seasaltcornwall.co.uk/m/women/clothing/casual-jackets-in-soft-cord-and-printed-cotton/long-waterproof-kellifray-mac_orca.htm
It's warm waterproof and very flattering though you wouldn't think it from the pictures ! It's got poppers to nip in the waist . Hth

Watching with interest, as I also want a warm, waterproof, bum-covering, good-looking coat, that doesn't depend on a zip-in fleece for warmth.

As an alternative to a hood, have a look at Tiley and Olney hats. They are really good quality. My Olney winter hats have always been completely waterproof and breathable, and my Tiley summer hats are all showerproof. Advantages of a brimmed hat over a hood: you can turn your head to see to cross the road, keeps the rain off more effectively than a hood most of the time, and looks far more elegant than a hood.

I bought this last December, very comfortable, warm and not shapeless. Suitable for winter, too warm for autumn. It was reduced to £70 with free delivery. Sizing is US standards, so always order a size smaller.

I saw a woman in a rubberised coat the other day, like a sailing coat but not bright yellow. Has anyone seen any of those around? I would love a really waterproof one for those mega downpours when dog walking!

I like the down coat. What was it like in the rain?

I've heard good things about Boden's Rainy Day Mac which seems to fit the bill, but I'm only 32 but not very trendy and I'm not sure I want to slide into Boden yet.

Do you think it will be the beginning of an inevitable decline into beige loungewear?

Was that recently, Po?

I like te Rainy Day Mac style but not the colours it comes in!

Crew do a nice 'parka' but its not waterproof.

I have a lovely down coat but again that's not waterproof.

I do like a good hat so will check out those links!

I have realised I sadly can't get the Seasalt one - I need a coat which will go with navy, black and brown due to my winter boots, so a colour would be better than black or blue.

I wouldn't recommend going to Fat Face for a big purchase like a coat - the last three things i've bought from them have been faulty, and it's put me right off them tbh.

I also found that high street coats tend only to be showerproof rather than actually waterproof, so shop with caution!

I can thoroughly recommend LL BEAN . It's a us based website but I have two coats from them and both arrived within 10 days. Some of the raincoats have zip out linings so useful for warm wet weather too.
Fab range if colours. Customer service by email was brilliant.

I bought the rainyday mac this year, the 'sage' colour is more a brown if that helps (awful photos from Boden). I'm also going to buy one of the down coat from Lands End, I think they're just under £150 (code ADPLE for 15% off)

Autograph have a nice one think it comes in green or navy. sadly not on M&S website. Similar to Rainy Day but perhaps a few more zips. Think it is £69.
