If you need supportive shoes, what do you wear when at home?

I wear flattish shoes with good soles due to previous joint issues. At home I have solid floors and walking barefoot / in socks is not comfortable. I tried Totes slippers that were touted as good supportive soles etc but they collapsed within a month, no better than cheap supermarket slippers and probably worse. After popping old leather sandals in the washing machine (yes, yes) and wearing them at home to check they're still ok, I thought maybe keeping a pair of outdoor quality shoes or sandals for indoor wear may be an option... If anyone else who wears "good soles" has any ideas I'd like to hear!

I have arch problems similar to plantar fasciitis and used to wear M&S secret support slippers. Mum usually gets them for me for Christmas

She couldn't find any this year so apologetically bought their Step-Tone ones. They're even better

She's not a lentil weather but has very odd feet the socks are to keep her feet warm.
She hates cats.

I wear orthotics due to feet rolling in and Achilles tendon issues.

I am OK at home barefoot but if / when I no longer am I'm simply going to have some outdoor shoes for indoors.

No need to suffer unnecessary :-)

marriednotdead thanks for the suggestion of M&S slippers. They don't seem to have Step Tone slippers at the moment, although there's Step Tone shoes shown online. They do have slippers called Secret Support so maybe they've just rebranded the slippers.

Katy , Cocolepew glad to hear that wearing outdoor shoes indoors is acceptable. It's just me and a toddler at home. The toddler reckons that welly boots go with everything so an outside perspective is good.

I have to wear custom orthotics and have been advised to wear them all the time - ie not to walk around barefoot. At home, I wear Crocs as the orthotics sit in them without sliding around (and I wear socks with them in winter!). I wouldn't be seen dead in Crocs outside the house, though.

My late and much missed DMIL wore sandals and wooly socks in the house and walking boots outside, with bare legs and a cotton skirt in mid winter.

She did, indeed, have three cats, all mad.

Not pretty, but absolute bliss. They are actually quite cool in this heat too as they are breatheable. They actually alleviate pain in my feet if I've been out walking or standing up all day. I have quite a lot of foot pain issues. Bunions, post bunion op gone wrong pain, flat feet etc

I have to wear a heel raise in one shoe as I have one leg shorter than the other. The physio who spotted this where many doctors failed has my eternal gratitude as it has cured years of chronic back pain.
It means that I cannot go shoeless or wear sandals for very long.
I buy canvas pumps which I keep for indoors. Slippers don't give enough support. It's tedious though.
