I put some Roche-Posey sun screen today in my basket and then felt completely daunted and left with nothing else... What do you recommend?

I used this article as the basis of my shopping list once. The makeup remover is particularly good.

Lovely link, mummyonthewedge.

I'd add Nuxe creme prodigieuse.

And the P'tit Olivier bath/shower gel in rose as it really is a good and lasting scent.

And one of this year's sunburn threads had a recommendation for a French gel called Osmo Soft.

I love Klorane dry shampoo. Both the nettle and oatmeal versions are good.
Dermophil lip balm.
Dermophil hand cream.
Uriage AquaPrecis day cream.
La Roche-Posay Cicaplast (both products in that range) and the Effaclar range.
Avene Akerat S for keratosis pilaris.
Avene Cold Cream hand cream is also very good, almost as good as the Dermophil hand cream.
Nuxe Reve de miel lip balm (the one in the glass jar).
Garancia Diabolique Tomate day cream.

Ooh lovely! Thanks so much for taking the time to answer! Great link and a nice mix of different products from you all. Will leave kids with hubby tomorrow and have a good, long rummage with Mumsnet app open!

Avene Cicalfate drying lotion is is brilliant for getting rid of spots overnight. I also like the Bio derma face wipes and for some reason I find Dafalgan paracetamol much more effective than other brands (especially for hangovers)

Nuxe Huile Prodigieuse has the most amazing scent and comes in 'Ore' too; a lovely subtle glowing gold plus an actual Nuxe prodigieuse parfum scented with Tiare;

Nuxe Baume Des Reves-Reve Du Miel lipbalm

Le Petit Marseillaise shower gels (cheap as chips and gorgeous scents);

Bourjois shower gels;

Eau Jeune Scenteurs Fraiches- glass bottles of heavenly citrus scented EDT dirt cheap too but great quality;

Klorane Chamomile shampoo which is lovely on blonde hair nad Klorane Monoi beauty oil for body and hair

Vichy foaming cleansers;

Cetaphil cleansers and make up remover- so gentle models use them to remove makeup after shows from angry, stressed skin.

Also look out for bottles of Hawaiian and Tahitian monoi and coconut body oils. They smell incredible.

im a big fan of nuxe,love their anti fatigue serum and moisturizing mask.
bioderma water cleanser is great and cheap in france,and the hydrabio exfoliating cream is not too harsh and leaves the skin feeling very soft.

klorane baby products are excellent,their nappy rash creme is amazing,and their eau de bebe smells divine.

Well, I'm off to France shortly do I've been looking up all the brand recommendations for French skincare, toiletries etc on the web.

I've done a brief trawl of brands and checked out whether they can be bought here [from Amazon or online stores] and if so whether they are cheaper in France.

Please bear in mind that this is only a rough guide and I haven't done a thorough search of each product. This is just enough to say whether I should buy because it's not available or buy to make savings.

Oh, you naughty, naughty people! Grin
You made me spend far too much in a French Pharmacje yesterday (and Carrefour next door). Sadly, I had to leave them with the food/wine we'd bought for my brother to pick up when he visits with his van in a week or two. Unusually, we flew with just hand luggage as it was a last minute week. But it'll be a nice surprise when I get to see it all again!

Cicaplast- various, including a repairing lip balm and a cream with SPF50 included.
Nuxe Huile Prodigieuse - just had to get some after glowing reviews here!
Le Petit Marseille- two big body lotions for dry skin and small hand cream.
Some shower gels (can't remember the brand, maybe Klorane)
Dermophil lip balm
Avene cold cream hand cream - offer of two for €9.90 (I think).
Bioderma - so many nice options but didn't buy any (next time).

Honestly, could have spent £300-400 easily on LRP/Bioderma, Nuxe and Caudalie products . In the little duty free at Bordeaux I slathered myself in as many Caudalie serums, creams and oils as I could manage! Son's GF will be getting a nice gift set of their creams/shower gets for her birthday in 2 days.
