I posted on here a week or so ago regarding my nasty brows and decided to go to have them threaded and dyed.
never again!
agonizing does not even begin to describe where im coming from.
quite frankly id rather stick my head in a deep fat fryer than go through that ever again.
should it have hurt that much?

Oh go on I bet they look fab? Put Emla on an hour before next time and NEVER have them threaded when you have your period.

I'll get less painful the more often you have them done, as long as you don't leave a long gap inbetween.

good god really?
why on earth would anyone ever go back for seconds then?
some people must like pain.

Weird, I've never found it particularly painful.

Why does it hurt so much? Surely it's just tweezing but with cotton instead of tweezers?

I've had it done once! never again, I'm sticking to waxing.

Tho I did think threading made my eyebrows better but I'm not brave enough to have them threaded again.

i don't know debs but it bloody well did!
ive tweezed for years and that's a breeze compared to this threading lark.
its not like ive got a low pain threshold either so i just don't know.
waxing from now on i think.

and with threading they pull out multiples at once and they go against the grain.
nasty!

I've not had my brows threaded professionally, but have threaded them myself. It didn't hurt too much, but was more painful than using tweezers as more hairs were pulled at the same time.

Yes, it's like having barbed wire dragged across your forehead. Works well though!

Oh, I wonder why waxing hurts me but threading doesn't bother me?

Report
Stopputtingitoff · 22/06/2013 17:27

I have very fair eyebrows and not only did it feel like I was having razor wire dragged over my eyes it also took what seemed like forever. I think they should offer gas and air as pain relief.

I don't mind threading except when I have my moustache top lip
done.

That hurts like a bitch!

Trills · 22/06/2013 17:38

Threading and plucking and waxing and sugaring and epilating are all "pulling the hairs out by the root", so there's no particular reason why one would hurt less than the others.

dontyouwantmebaby · 22/06/2013 18:16

it definitely hurts more the first time you have them threaded but after that, provided you have it done regularly, not so much.

I'd only ever go with a fully-trained, experienced professional for it - they will ask you to hold your skin taut between your brows. I think it gives far better results than any other method, especially better than waxing IMO.

Trills there is :) Threading pulls out several at once!!

My friend lied to me, it hurts!! A LOT!! Never again.

I had the area above my lips threaded. It was utter agony AND I ended up with folliculitis so I had a moustache of spots. Never ever again. Ever. No.

IMO it's less painful than waxing and does not leave you as red after. I was always so embarrassed walking around with a red moustache after waxing! Think the first time you get threaded it hurts a lot more than subsequent times. I get my eyebrows and upper lip done every two weeks - they don't really need it until four probably only i notice - but you get such perfect results with threading I will never go back.
Also now I find the hair grows back less and is finer. If you get eyebrows make sure the lady speaks English so they understand when you say you want them left thicker and don't want them trimmed at the top! bad experiences

I find it stings a little but not too bad. Usually do my own brows and upper lip. You can get anti bacterial thread which seems to stop any spots on mine
