give the 14 year old you one piece of beauty advice what would it be ?

Mine would be - always use a moisturiser with a SPF.

Told this little gem to my DD at the weekend and I thought there's got to be some other ones I'm missing and thought "I know who to ask".... over to you now S and B Ladies Smile

Don't pluck your eyebrows to tadpoles

You're not freakishly ugly as you imagine! Actually you look pretty good.
Enjoy it!

Perms. Just say no.

Sun In does not give you blonde highlights - it turns it a strange shade of orange similar to that of an Orangutan - and no sitting in the sun some more does not remedy the Orangutany orangeness.

Transculent powder is not see through and will still make you look like a ghost especially with your skin tone.

There are more shades of lipstick out there apart from Rimmel's Black Cherry and Heather Shimmer.

If you wait a few years you will one day be able to buy foundation that exactly matches your skintone - instead of that unearthly light pink glow you have.

Wash in /Wash out colour DOES NOT LAST MORE THAN ONE WASH let alone 7

Don't worry about your acne or scarring it fades with time - then you will get freckles.

It is not a good look to shave your eyebrows despite what Just17 magazine say, neither is it a good look to wear a darker lipliner ( by about 10 shades) from your Lippy

Ooops got a bit excited there - you said "one" If I had to choose it would be the lipstick thing - I dont even really suit lipstick more lipgloss etc

If we assume the bra thing is more style than beauty, then the one piece of beauty advice I intend to pass on to DD is 'don't shave anything you're not prepared to spend the rest of your life shaving'.

Not to cut my hair. It's taken years to grow back, obviously I wouldn't want it below waist as it was, but still.

I'd also be able to tell self about using nail oil, and how to do best home pedicure (after years of salon pedicures), and which blusher shade best to use.

Also not to lighten my hair and keep it my more natural mid/light blonde I've reverted back to.

I too couldn't stick to just one piece of advice!

Your hands will age you more than your face - look after them.

Like yourself a little more.

You don't realise it now, but in a few years, you will look back at your pictures and marvel at how fresh faced and lovely you were.

Can I give myself another piece of advice?
Don't over pluck your eyebrows.

Report
WandaDoff · 17/06/2013 17:08

Sorry fat fingers Blush

Stop hiding away behind your hair & baggy clothes. Oh & moisturise, & give up smoking.

Enjoy your figure.

Learn to blow dry and style your hair (never did and have always been crap at it - GHDs are the only thing I can do).

Get into good skincare routine early.

If you're going to insist on being a goth, at least have some fun at the same time, and really think twice about dying your hair black and purple.

Good one about the eyebrows ! I wish I'd have known that at 14 (in the late 70's) I would now not have sparse wispy bits of hair above my eyes, masquerading as eyebrows Blush

Don't perm your hair (and esecially don't let your mother give you a home perm)

Look after your teeth and visit a dentist regularly (oh, how I wish this had been drummed into me more by my parents...)
