Where is the bra lady, I need help??

I have never found a perfect bra. The closet I got was Broderie by bravissimo which has been discontinued. I am 36 j/k and have very strange shaped boobs. They always go sideways rather than in front and the central boning never sits flat on my breast bone! I have just lost a stone in weight, and the problem is getting worse. The boning in the centre sticks out almost at a right angle, there is also spare material in the cup. Any ideas? Thanks.

I posted a while ago about Rigby and Peller. Ok so v.expensive undies but by far the best bra fitting I have ever had (and I've had a few!!)
Go for it

dingit Hi, I've put out klaxon to marriednotdead as she is brilliant at suggesting styles and brands for specific issues. Hopefully she'll be along soon.

In the meantime, have you measured according to the guide here?

Sarak I don't think R&P would be much help unfortunately - they aren't great for much above a G cup.

Married is your lady but from what I remember broderie was a good bra for people who needed deeper cups. I believe the suggested alternative were boudoir beau and Aleya, and possibly Panache Jasmine.

I second the Bravissimo boudoir, only bra I have ever found with deep enough cups. R&P rubbish for K cups.

Thanks ladies, haven't tried the boudoir! The only trouble is they are out of stock or strange colours! Hmm

Any swimwear tips? Bravissimo is the best I can find again.

Hello dingit, thanks for the klaxon Sorrel Smile

Whether you are a J or K is hugely relevant. Up to J gives you most Cleo (by Panache) styles. JJ means that Cleo Meg or Marcie in J will probably fit. K means only Panache Jasmine as SC mentioned. The only issue with the Jasmine is that it has stretch lace at the top of the cup which weakens fairly quickly in larger cups. Nothing a bit of reinforcement with less/non stretchy fabric won't solve though.

Deeper cups means generally that less of the boob is actually attached to your body at the root, giving a more oval/oblong breast shape. It has nothing to do with how firm or soft your breasts are.

The bras above cater for this shape much better than their more shallow, rounded counterparts, and give a much better lift as a consequence.

Swimwear.
Bravissimo own brand as it's wires are narrower- size up a cup, or a band if you're a K. There's a blue/green tankini in at the mo that is really good, can't think of the name for the life of me but it should be easy enough to find.

You can lose from the band INSTEAD sometimes, meaning going down in the back and up in the cup. And if the band is too loose, the rest won't work.

yup, that's generally what happens to me, my back shrinks and my norks don't.

Uh oh. That doesn't sound good. When I went to the Covent garden shop, the assistant didn't measure me, just looked and said I was a 34. I don't think they did a k cup in those days, so she sold me a 36 and told me to stitch the back tighter. So if I go down to a 34 back, I need an L cup?

I think I either need to sit and cry, or traipse up to London, which I hate as I feel like a freak!

I think you will need to try lots on but if you can't face the shops then could you measure yourself according to the bra guru blog and we can try to pinpoint what's needed?

Thanks. Yes I will order a few. I have the blue green tankini in my basket, and a pyjama vest top ( the bottoms will have to come from primark!) the total already comes to £90. The price of having big boobs ( probably would have saved enough for surgery by now!)

I have PM'd you Smile

Re the blue tankini, it didn't work for me at all in a K, no lift or shape at all, made me look very droopy. I found the Curvy Kate tankini the best this year, as it is like a bra with a top over it. Still not the best shape but lots of lift.

The Boudoir is out again but only in a pink and cream colour. Bring back black please Bravissimo!

Oh no, just ordered blue tankini!

Don't rule it out dingit - it might work for you. It depends so much on breast shape rather than just size ime

Parcel just arrived Smile. Tankini looks huge, enough for my big norks anyway! Will try on later, and report back.

Blue tankini an awful fit. Looked like uncontrolled melons! I like the San Marino swimming costume. Only trouble is it only comes in red, and don't want to look like pammie!

I'd really like to thank the ladies who give bra fitting advice. I went out on Friday and bought the best fitting bra I've ever worn thanks to the measurement formula.

i used to work at R&P

they measure with their eyeballs, but you should not have been sold a 36, if you were a 34. Did they offer their alteration service for the 36?
