So, I have got cheap wellies and they a very uncomfy so I am now moving to the wilds and need some wellies or country boots I can spend a lot of time in without the ouch and the cold and without looking completely awful! Not Hunters obviously because moving to the country and wearing Hunter wellies would be even too much of a cliche for me......

I also need a long raincoat, how can anyone get to 43 and not own a proper coat? Hmm

aigle parcours iso are your friend. pricey but will last.

Why not Hunters? Comfiest wellies I've ever owned and have the best fit too.

Agile are best. Of a cheapo option Joules aren't bad at all. I actually think Hunter quality has tanked since I was a child.

Dunlops. Sturdy, comfy, no nonsense, choice of green or black, inexpensive. Also available in half height for those who are sturdy in the calf area like me

I'm the same age as you and live my Muck Boots but I don't think they are what you are looking for, you need Dubarry.

Muck Boots are nice because of neoprene (pervert!Blush) I did have a pair of Hunters years ago for horses etc and they did last but I just cnnot bear the cliche of then now (shallow) I seriously cannot pay for Dubarrys - they are nice of course but actually I have bought cars cheaper. I am headin towards Aigles....... Dunlops are just not comfy and warm enough I am afraid.

I need to look STYLEY......................... but sensible, but not try hard. Hunters and Dubarrys would make me feel a bit self conscious. I think Aigles may be the middle ground (over thinking or what).......

Of course I could be packing or doing something sensible but instead I am musing over the 'right' welly. |Goodness only knows how much thinking I can put into my first rain coat Hmm

watching with interest as I have heard that Hunter wellies have gone downhill and whilst I'd love some Dubarrys i just cannot afford them so would love something along these lines

Grin Fluffy, I think this is very valid packing displacement activity. Make sure whatever you get they will keep your feet warm during the never ending winters we seem to be having. I'm still walking the dog in my Muckboots and it is flipping May.

I think the first pair linked are nice, stylish in an understated kind of way, It must be said, much as I love my boots, attractive they are not in any way. You're almost making me think about getting some new ones.

The worst thing is I don't have to pack as packers are coming but not for a couple of weeks and I am terribly concerned that my slingbacks and velvet coat will not do in the wilds..... we went on a fact finding/house hunting thing last week and it rained for 48 hours...... the house we have chosen is up a track................. nice but you know, proper country.

Now I just need a stylish yet sensible yet not heavy coat which will make me look slimmer and keep out the neverending rain

Muck boots if you want warm dry feet.

It is possible of course that I am over thinking it? But especially when I know they cost a lot (for wellies) and I will have to get the wear of them because I am frugal I cannot bear them to be ugly....... Yes Aigle might be just the ticket - I wonder though as the Aigle Parcours are much more money if they are more comfy?

Buy some reasonably price dunlop or similar ones. Get them roomy in the foot. then get a carpet off cut and cut into an insole shape. Works well and keeps your feet very warm.
Not sexy though.... Maybe sex it up by wearimg a leopard print thong peeping out over your sensible warm trousers!

And get a barbour to keep you dry. The carpet trick works for heeled wellies too but you will look a dick wearing them :)
