Moisturiser recommendations for sensitive skin, please?

I have to confess I'm usually rather lax in my beauty routine and don't regularly moisturise - I have very greasy oily skin and apart from a bit around the eyes, don't tend to need much moisturisation. I'm 46 and thus far have coasted on the oiliness

However, this never-ending winter (graaah!) seems to have dried me out a lot - I looked in the mirror yesterday and noticed my face was looking really wrinkly. So I slapped on my usual moisturiser, but it's really stung my face and made my neck go red - it's still feeling tight and tingly now and it's 4 hours later!

I'm hoping this is a temporary thing, but while my skin seems to have become over-sensitive, can anyone recommend a good moisturiser for wind-damaged skin? My usual one (that's stinging) is Olay Hydrating fluid.

I use clinique, it's one of very few makes I don't react to (very, very sensitive skin!). I have combination skin and it works really well for me.

Me too.I like Superdefence cream for combination skin by Clinique plus eye cream.I react to everything else too sadly.

I absolutely love the Body Shop Aloe Night cream. It's so gentle and doesn't irritate my extremely sensitive skin. I have been using it in the day too during these harsh months.

I use Neal's Yard oils.
Sometimes wheatgerm for v dry, but usually something like almond or apricot. About £6 for a bottle that lasts for 6 months. Relatively cheap.

I love the fact that it is just 100% oil, some of it organic too.
It never makes me look greasy. If I have dry bits and overdo it I just blot off any excess 5 mins after putting it on.

I love the trilogy rosehip oil and the moisturiser. V sensitive but v greasy skin here too.

currently using Olay regenerist 3 point- unperfumed one from Amazon- but previously have always used Clinique- super defence, youth surge, etc and now they do one called moisture surge which you can leave on overnight. Avoid their yellow gunge one- it's rubbish.

I have very oily but not particularly sensitive skin and I use oil cleansing method and then just a drop of the oil to moisturise afterwards. My friend with super sensitive skin loves Gatineau.

I've been using the Boots Botanics Sensitive Skin cream. Cheap and lovely.
Eucerin Sensitive is good, more expensive though.
Also Clarins Orchidee Blue oil.

I was recommended the Tesco Skin Wisdom range. Has lots of lovely essential oils in.

Steam cream. It rocks. The only cream which has never irritated my skin.

Your skin is probably reacting to the perfume in the cream, because it is more raw than usual due to the weather. I have sensitive skin and can't use anything with perfume, or any other ingredients that are anti-aging, firming, what-have-you as they all cause a reaction. You could try Vaseline Intensive Care unperfumed - although since they changed the formula, I can't use it any more. (has anyone else found this??) I now use Palmers Cocoa Butter Unfragranced. It works for me but I do have dry skin - it might be a bit heavy for you. It's only £4 a pop though so might be worth trying even if you don't like it!

I have sensitive skin occasionally and Dr Hauschka Rose cream is great but £££.

La Roche Posay 'Cicaplast' moisturiser. Very rich and soothing without any greasiness, it's my holy grail moisturiser.

If you use an oil, you should use a water-based serum with it as your skin needs both oil and water, which moisturising creams contain. MissFoodie taught me this I used Neal's Yard Rose Facial Oil together with a Shu Uemura thing for overnight, worked well but too £££ for me nowadays and am not convinced it wasn't a bit snake oily after the success of my new simple Avene/La Roche Posay routine.

I'm with Yoni on cicaplast - good stuff and you don't need loads. I use it overnight but find it too much for daytime as it takes a while to sink in ready for foundation.

Boots Botanics sensitive day cream is really good as mentioned above as it doesn't irritate and sinks in quickly but leaves your skin hydrated.

I like tesco's little white pot of unscented moisturiser. Has vitamin E in it and is only around a quid. .

Too early to say but I will report back as I've just started using La Roche Posay Rosiliac moisturiser. Feels good so far but only started using it yesterday. My skin is being really weird at the moment - think the beginning of rosacia and is reacting to hormonal changes too.
