denim jackets?

I like this look/something similar for spring (which seems to have finally arrived here): pinterest.com/pin/338192253238089799/

Are denim jackets around at the moment? What else could I wear them with? Or should I avoid at all cost? Hmm I can't seem to make my mind up.

I wear mine a lot in Spring/Summer.

I wear it with coloured skinny jeans, a t shirt and light weight scarf, over a floral summer dress, with knee length and maxi skirts. With chinos or cropped trousers. You can wear them with most things IMO, but I don't do double denim.
I got my latest one in Dorothy Perkins last year.

i just bought a denim jacket from zara. i think they are a classic tbh, have tried it on with lots of stuff and think with maxi dresses, or white jeans and a breton, it looks really good. oh also thinking of wearing with simple tee and a floaty skirt. i wouldn't personally wear with blue jeans - too b*witched for me! - but everything else is fair game.

Oh good to hear they are so versatile. Tbh I had horrible 90s images of double denim in my head. Will be off to the shops methinks.

Have just bought myself a new one from river island, it's a bit lighter than your link, I tend to wear them a lot once it warms up, with leggings, chinos, dresses and even denim as long as its black or very dark,i think double denim is only a crime when the denims are close in shades.

i am hoping to get mine out soon and planning on dressing up with a light cotton scalf - i agree should not wear as a Geordie two piece as they sway round our way Grin

I've had one for years and had loads of wear out of it - will be coming out of the wardrobe again soon methinks.

I'm considering a biker type jacket Gap here also for a change this spring.

I have always had a denim jacket of some sort in my wardrobe since the late 80s. If ever there was a real must-have classic, it's the denim jacket!

My last one came from Oasis two years ago. I may need a new one this year.

I've got a lovely j crew one and love it.

Am very enamoured with the chanel version but will obviously waiting for zara to do their own ahem copy.

So it's decided then, I need a denim jacket Grin. Now to my next question: dark vs light? Leaning towards the darker one...

I can't get your Mango link to work Athena.

Mine is similar to this one. DS1 has a light one and it is forever in the wash, so for practical reasons I would say go darker.

I'm looking for a basic demin jacket to wear with dresses in the summer (I'm thinking dress, denim jacket and converse if that sounds ok? I'm dreadful at putting outfits together). It'll have to be a cheap high street one though, like New Look or Dorothy Perkins.

Denim. Not demin.

Mine came from Joe Browns and I love it. Goes with everything except, of course, blue jeans. Wear it loads once it starts warming up a bit.

landof, the one you linked is very similar (but a little cheaper) to the mango one I tried to link. I think I prefer the darker ones so will head into town and try a few on.

madratlady, I am not a fan of dresses with converse but if you like it go for it. There are loads on the new look website.

I think lighter is better personally- feels more fashionable, but still classic. Mine will be coming out again, think it was a new look version from last year. Be careful of the length, though- lots of them are slightly cropped, which looks great with dresses, but not so with trousers, unless you're super skinny.
