Rolled jeans

I like the look of the rolled hem on boyfriend jeans, but:

a) are they permanently like this so you can't unroll them?

b) can you roll the hems of skinny/straight jeans, or is that not a good look?

Thanks!

I like rolled up jeans. I don't have much choice in the matter though as I'm so short. Not sure if boyfriend jeans are sewn so you can't unroll them though. The only style i wouldn't roll up is bootcut as the shape means it just looks naff

Everyone in Norwich is wearing skinny jeans rolled up leaving the ankle on display. Even my dh has started doing it.

I won't be doing it. My bottom is far too big to be shortening hems and drawing the eye upwards any more than it has to be !

Ew, I don't roll enough to show my ankles off, just enough so my jeans don't cover my feet. Far too chilly still to be flashing any flesh Grin

I've been rolling skinnies for years! Am I ahead of a trend fore once (or is 'everyone in Norwich' maybe not that indicative of the very cutting edge of fashion?)

So should I be waiting until the weather improves (hahahaha!!!) or can I roll up with Converse?

:) ha! As an ex Londoner I suspect Norwich follows rather than leads ....! However, I may be wrong (and flamed)!

Definitely noticed the ankle flashing whenIve been out though !

The gap ones aren't sewn - you can roll or unroll as you wish!

I've never found proper 'boyfriend' jeans that a) fit and b) don't make my arse look like its hanging round the back of my knees (the Gap ones were the worst)

I've a pair of straight legged Levi's which I roll up and wear when it's warmer with Converse, flipflops, etc.

I roll skinnies too

Maybe I'll stick with rolling skinnies and straights... I do like the baggy look of boyfriend jeans though, but I keep hearing they're hard to find and that the arse saggage is often the problem.

Yes, I like the baggy look of them too.

I just couldn't find a pair that looked baggy in the right places instead of saggy in the wrong places so gave up and went back to skinnies/straight legs

I don't know if I'm just a weird shape, but they were all quite tight on the lower leg and too baggy on the thigh/bum

If you find a pair that works let me know!

I always roll my skinnies and straight-leg jeans, unless I'm wearing boots.

I think a little flash of ankle is slimming, especially in flat shoes - tight jeans right down to the ankle can give you a bit of a "chicken drumstick" look if you are large of behind, but having the trouser hem fall at a slightly wider part of the leg (i.e just above ankle) balances things a little better. Well, that's my theory, anyway.

I am a big customiser of clothes, so would unstitch/re-hem/roll to suit me.

Another Norwicher here not showing any ankle (yet). I will roll em up when it gets warmer though.

I roll skinnies all the time...I have gap rolled boyfriend ones, but Im not sure about them.DD asked me, in a dumbstruck voice, why I was wearing 'fashion trousers' when I was wearing them the other day which has rather put me off them. Not that I should listen to her really-she is only 5, but she did look particularly aghast.

Yardley, you just wait til she's older. My DDs (9 and 11) literally frogmarch me into my bedroom to get changed if they deem my outfit not suitable. "Mum, what are you wearing?" Grin

My DD (10) gave me 'the look' when I tried wearing my jeans rolled up with ankle boots but all the style blog ladies are wearing them like that so what does she know?!
