I bought this along with some lovely red heels and a red bag but not sure now as it's not really a cocktail dress. Can I get away with it!?

Not sure if I've done the link properly

I wouldn't wear it sorry. It looks a bit informal, more suited to a summer outdoor event perhaps plus it has a bad review.

It is a lovely dress but I don't think I'd classify it as black tie.
What type of event is it? If its the type where everyone will be in short dresses, you might get away with it, but if there are people in long dresses you might look a little underdressed.

Wow, I want that dress!

I think it is dressy enough for evening wear, but I guess it depends on the occasion, and on accessories; I would go with black shoes/bag instead of red for nighttime, or metallic even, and really good jewelry selection. And sleek hair -- this dress looks more casual b/c the model has her hair in that sloppy ponytail with hairs coming out all over.

No. It's nice but not glam enough.

Lovely dress, but not for black tie.
Normally it's usually floor length.

Thanks all for your opinions. It's a dinner dance. I know some are wearing long and some short dresses. Think I'll have to nip out tomorrow and try and get something else (the do is tomorrow night!)

It's fine, IMO. I've seen women in smart trousers at balls, so that will be fine!

Pretty dress but don't think it is black tie IME

Agree that though smart short is fine for a black tie do that isn't formal/elegant enough - better for an informal summer do or holiday evening out.

agree. my phase eight verity dress is my fall back dress for such events knee length but very cocktail. sadly such events rare these days.

No no no. And , be careful matching shoes and bag that's a bit 80s.

No. a bit too casual / underdressed.

If its black tie its an excuse to really get glammed up.

No, that's not suitable for a black tie Ball < wonders if we're going to the same Ball tonight>
