Cotton or wool bed jacket (for bfing)- anyone?

Hi,
Total fail on anything at all non-polyester tastic. I'd love a bed jacket that I could sleep in and then feed easily from - so not really tricky openings.
I'd be really grateful if you've seen any bearable ones that you could steer me towards.
Thanks!

[dim icon] would a regular cardi not do?

to clarify I meant I might be being dim!

I s'pose it probably would in fact. I, just remember having very cold shoulders when attempting to feed sitting up or lying down. And had visions of a semi glam snuggly jacket.
But have been pretty horrified by terrible looking bed jackets. Maybe I'll have a look on toast website or something for a thick cardi. Thank you!!

Yes, do that as it'll be prettier and last longer. Cashmere will be good for baby naturally ;)

No you definitely need a lovely cashmere cardi. I remember having a gorgeous pale grey wrap one from GAP that I wore night and day for about 8 months, even the older two DC's loved sitting on my lap and snuggling in it with me on cool summer eveningsSmile

La redoute do 3 piece pyjama sets so you get a cardi ,top and trousers.

Sounds like you need a wrap or ballet cardigan if you want to sleep comfortably in it as well.

Or maybe even a waterfall type ie no fastenings but can be snuggled into when you sit up.

And a cotton one won't keep you warm - it really will need to be wool. If you can find a really lightweight (say ribbed or lacy) merino that would also work & may be a bit easier to take care of.

Thank you all! Have failed to find many nice thick cardis so far- shops obvs getting ready for a heat wave [very hopeful face]. Will check out Pure and la redoute and merino is also an excellent call. Thank you!

I loved the idea of a bed jacket! Do they still exist?

I have one of these: www.welovefrugi.com/mother/nursing-wear/nightwear/breastfeeding-pointelle-top/ which is brilliant for feeding at night.

I always wear a nursing vest/ sleep bra in bed, then either have a long sleeve t-shirt with buttons at chest / low scoop neck or a cardigan. A wrap one would be perfect Smile

How about a poncho by the side of the bed you can easily pop on? I have one for middle of the night trips to ill children or the toilet.

A big, soft shawl is the answer - pref. cashmere. :)

Cheap and cheerful washable Sainsbury's cardi. It will get picked on.

Pucked on, auto correct clear knows nothing about babies.

Ha, did wonder re puke. Have pig ugly Asda wrap if I have another Vom monster.
Otherwise have ordered two beautiful Pure cardis- one merino and one cashmere. Both in sale but neither cheap!
Don't think shawl will work as I was also v cold when lying down to feed as obvs don't want duvet over baby so it was rolled down to waist height. So I NEED something warm.
Slightly hoping that all of this efficient planning means I score one of those babies that just sleeps through from day one.

Your talk of duvets has reminded me that last autumn, Uniqlo stocked a funny little cropped down jacket with 3/4 length sleeves and a funnel neck and every time I saw it it I thought "ah, this must be what a bed jacket looks like". It was one of the ultralight down ones - I think the quilting reminded me of satin bedspreads and it was just the right length to not get scrunched up if you were sitting up in bed.

I quite liked the look of them & actually bought one but took it back in the end as I knew I'd never wear it - if it was cold enough to wear a down coat, then your wrists would get cold Confused.

Clearly timed this baby all wrong. Knew there was a reason (other than youth and higher fertility) that DC1 was an autumn baby. Much more useful potential sleepwear out there!
Still, coming up 36 weeks now so am very grateful for your help and looking forward to my cashmere cardis (balance out the scary giant nan pants and awful bf tops- pure glam mothering me).

I wear a zip up hoody from GAP. It is white with a cosy lining.
