Foundation advice please!

I am in my mid forties and have tried various foundations over the years -only really started wearing foundation every day in my mid thirties. My skin is quite good in terms of not that many wrinkles but as a result of teenage acne in my t zone I have open pores, particularly on and around my nose, together with some redness. I have used bare minerals in the past and while I would love to love it, I feel it just makes my skin look powdery. Although I still have an oily t zone I don't want to use a matt foundation as I prefer more of a glowy (but not shiny!) look. Currently using no 7 essentially natural foundation which is fine for day but need something with a bit more coverage for night time. Or do I just need to address the redness before putting on my foundation? I use Clinique pore stuff on my nose which is v good, but the redness does show through, particularly on photos.

Any advice you can give please?

Hi mumtoh, was going to say bare minerals then saw your comment.

Have you tried using bareminerals with a good primer (personally love Tensage serum) underneath? & have you been shown how to apply it properly? It's actually heat activated so the 'buffing' technique is really important to get a smooth, non-powdery look....

I have skin like yours, oily t-zone.

YSL foundation is brilliant

I don't ear a primer under it , the sales girl told me it alreadt has primer in it but other on mumsnet still use primer under it.

It stays put on me and gives a really natural finish.

I have tried bare minerals , this stays out longer and gives better coverage naturally. I haven't got particularly red areas but maybe if you use a primer that combats redness under neath that may help.

Thanks for advice all, seems the ysl is popular. Think I will call in for advice on colour matching and hopefully a free sample . boymeetsworld have tried bare minerals with primer and have had makeover with it but I just can't get on with it.
Anyone got recommendations for a redness primer? The smashbox one seems a bit pricey compared to the foundation and a quick flick through boots website shows a few others which are cheaper.
