Slippers / indoor shoes help please!

I don't seem to have much luck with buying slippers as the soles seem to come away after a year, my most recent pair is doing that after just 7 months. We are a no outdoor shoes beyond the hall household but I still like to wear something to keep my feet warm and protected in the kitchen, bathroom etc.

Where can I buy slippers that are comfortable, warm and that will last a long time? I usually buy them from M&S but I think I may have to look elsewhere.

TIA

Oh I've been thinking of toms but not sure, quite interested on this one as I have the same problem. I bought my dh some cork bottom ones from accessorize years ago and I would love to replace his and buy some for myself but I can't find cork bottom slippers anywhere.

Outdoor shops have started doing slippers, I would expect they might last better. something like this?

I just wear horrible crocs and they last for years. Blush

I suppose it depends whether you are bothered what they look like.

Are you not supposed to change hem at least once a year? When my Nana was in a care home they replaced them every 6 months,
I find they get a bit yucky every few months so go through 2-3 pairs a year

Actually it is the fleece or lined ones that I replace regularly ,but crocs last years

I use slipper socks but they wear out too.

I use fake cheapy uggs as they are a bit more substantial in the sole But a year for a pair is very good going anyway, doubt you will get much better than that whatever you wear!

Oh thanks for replies. I didn't realise that you were meant to change them that often.Just as well as they don't last very long anyway! Do you think it's a hygiene thing canyou with it being in an establishment where they have to be scrupulous with germ control?

Thank you for the link hugo. Not sure whether it's my thing but I'll have a look in town tomorrow.

I wear flip flops in the summer as indoor footwear.

I just buy washable ones from Tesco. I throw them away every couple of months and buy a new pair but they're so cheap I don't mind at all.

I do actually have a pair of unused short Uggs that's been sitting around for ages. Would it be sacrilige to use them as slippers? I've been told that is what they are.

I had some FlyFlot cloggy type thing as I like a hard sole. They look fine but they are not very warm in winter so bought some knitted grey booties from Tesco in mid November and they are just wearing through now.

Having said that I do think softer materials get a bit whiffy and mucky so don't mind replacing them

I am guessing it is hygiene reasons for the replacing them so often, I feel that aside from my work shoes I wear them more then any other shoe so I prefer to replace them as I often wear them without socks and don't tend to wash them --but I do shower twice a day so my feet are generally clean

Hmm I used to work in care homes and I know why they replace them so often.

I am sure this does not apply in your home.

I live in Celtic Sheepskin slippers which are blissfully comfortable and cosy.

They are not stylish but they are unbelievably comfortable:

Pricy but they last about 3 years, even with a chewy dog in the house.

Moshulu. I've had this pair for about four years. They are the comfiest snuggest slippers I have ever had. The inners got all flat after about 3 years so I bought some sheepskin insoles from somewhere and they are as good as new again. They have thick rubber soles so they are fine for popping out to the dustbin, car etc. I think they say not to wash put I have put them through the machine on a gentle cycle and they've been fine. Several different styles too, you don't have to have the boots.

crocs and warm socks.

Slippers always get wet going to the garage freezer.

Birkenstocks. They do closed felt or leather ones for winter and mules for summer.
Will last you for the rest of your life. I left a pair of Birkenstock mules at my parents' when I moved out and still wear them there when I go to visit. 20 years later.

Slippers losing their soles are the bane of my life! My pairs seem to last 3 months absolute max! Hmm

I have tried all kinds of different slippers, always wear through the soles Sad

I never wear them without socks, so no hygiene issues- would love some that last more than 3 months.
