Me!

We have two basic shelving units from Ikea like this in the hallway, up against the wall, and all the shoes, boots and trainers get slotted into them.

I have lots and lots of these
Each one holds at least two pairs of shoes

We trip over them. Five of us and lots of shoes, including huge amounts of wellies and outdoor stuff.

I don't live in a small house but I do have lots of shoes. I started with billy bookcases to store my shoes on. As a present DH built me shelving to perfectly hold my shoes.

I have baskets a bit like these on top of the shelves and all the gloves, scarves and hats get chucked into them when we come in.

We are a family of 5 too. I have to be on top of storage in our little cottage, otherwise we'd be flailing around in a tide of detritus.

I have mesh storage hanging on the back of a cupboard door for shoes and an ikea Hermes shoe cabinet in the hallway for my many, many pairs of boots. The mesh thing is the McAllen one in amazon, currently only 7.99. Sorry can't link, but easy to find.

I have a whole single built in wardrobe in the spare bedroom dedicated to my shoes and bags of which I wear about 3 pairs/use 2 bags. I also managed this in my previous, much smaller house - there was one built in cupboard in our bedroom and from day 1 it was just for my shoes!

We have a smallish house (4 of us) and a tiny hallway. I think this is the one we have in the hall

It looks the same and we got it from Argos 3 years ago. It's slim but will hold adult chunky trainers. That's where keep the shoes we're currently using day to day, it's mainly my work shoes in there.

Under the bed I have a couple of those plastic boxes, one is full of nice shoes, the other has trainers. I have basket on the top of my wardrobe that keeps either winter boots or summer shoes. I rotate by what I'm currently wearing.

I'm going to get another thin wardrobe from Ikea and get one of the shoe storage fittings in to tidy up the under bed situation.

In our teeny tiny Victorian terrace I keep shoes I wear regularly in our Ikea Hemnes Shoe Cabinet [http://www.ikea.com/gb/en/catalog/products/20169559/ here] which fits flush into a recess on one side of the chimney breast.

The rest of my beautiful and expensive shoes are in their boxes on top of my wardrobe with description on front.

My day to day shoes, cheap pumps, walking boots, grubby shoes and anything else goes into a suitcase with tissue paper lining - used to individually wrap but can't be arsed don't have the time these days. A little lavender bag or some such absorbs any nasties. This suitcase is kept under the bed and for holidays shoes are transferred into an ikea bag until we return :)

I take my hat off to you miss. When it comes to storing shoes of every eventuality, you take the crown.
All of ours get lobbed into the shelves, and the few pretty shoes I have sit on my side of the room, beside my dressing table. Gathering dust. Blush Grin

mine are all stored on an old cheap tall book shelf. boots at the bottom and all the other shoes stored above, with similar colours supposed to be together but that didn't last long!

I have a shoe wardrobe, which has three shelves. All my shoes go in see through shoe boxes and are stacked in there, except the ones I wear regularly which live on the floor on the wardrobe.

Sorry, a bit off topic, and asked in the spirit of someone who is a hoarder but wishes they weren't: does having so many pairs of shoes make you, on balance, happy when you take into account the angst of mess/clutter/storage? Is it the buying or the wearing or the owning that brings you joy?

If only I could figure out answers.....

Oh it's all about the buying for me. I don't get chance to wear most of my beautiful high heels anymore but that doesn't stop me coveting!
