Defining your eyebrows?

Hi,

My eyebrows are very fair and I usually colour them in using a brown eyeliner!

I really need to get a proper eyebrow cosmetic - is an eyebrow powder better than a pencil? Which products do you use please? I can get a lovely shape/depth on one side but am not quite as good on the other!

Looking forward to your tips and recommendationsSmileSmile

I have a brow kit from benefit. It has wax and teeny brushes and tweezers and powder. I like it but it was a bit pricey.

Have a look at Lisa Eldridge's "Eyebrow Tutorial" (sorry can't link on phone), I found it useful.
I use powder and brush or a dark brown Aldi pencil which is great, no chestnutty tone and brush on other end.

I have the benefit one too. Don't use the powder as too much for me but the tinted wax and the slanted brush are perfect.

Used to use a Clinique twist up pencil but the wax and brush is much better.

I like to get them tinted and then fill them
In with pencil when it starts to fade. Feel so much better with strong eyebrows Smile

I think powder gives a more natural finish. Mac do quite a nice one that comes with a highlighter for underneath as well.

Getting them dyed is better than both IMO. I get mine shaped and dyed every 6 weeks and it's brilliant. If I'm going for a night out or as they start to fade I then top up with a bit of powder.

I suggest going to a make-up counter and being shown your options. I used to use a pencil but felt my brows were lacking, so while I was buying a blusher from Bobbi Brown, I asked the girl what she could do with my brows and now use powder and a brush.

Agree. Powder after tint wears off

MUA from Superdrug do an excellent palette with two different colours, a highlighter and wax.

MaureenShit... Is the BB Mahogany too dark for a mousey/blonde ?

Oh.... And does it stay well? I bought the Superdrug MUA palette but binned it last week. I possibly got an 'off' product but in close up, it wore off patchy, very quickly and my brows took on a moth eaten look which I don't really have!

Went to Malika brow threading shop in Bluewater shopping centre a few weeks ago. The threading combined with the pencil I bought from them has given me the most amazing brows I have ever EVER had!

I'm Indian skin toned and my brows are naturally gappy, sparse and black so id been using dark shadow powders and a brush.

The pencil is called butterscotch and is double ended with what looks like a mascara brush on the other end so you can brush the pencil through if this makes sense?

Mine look lush now and totally natural.

Thanks for your opinions!

I do tint my eyebrows but not often enough, which is stupid really as it doesn't take long and makes such a difference. I will tint them again over the next couple of days but will also go and get a powder thing too.

So, does everyone rate the BB one then? I had a look at their site and £35 is quite expensive! Any others that are good and maybe cheaper? Although, I would rather pay a little extra if it is really worth it.... TIA Smile

Remember, you're under no pressure to buy from the beauty counter, so try and see what they recommend, you can always purchase something similar from somewhere else. However, if you do go down the powder and brush route, you'll be doing this every day, so it's worth investing in a decent brush at the very least. I'm six months into the powder I purchased and it barely looks used.

As for the poster who asked if mahogany is suitable for blondes, probably not, I think saddle is lighter and better. However, again, go and ask what they suggest, there are loads of different shades and probably something more suitable.

I get mine threaded, then use Maybelline define a lash mascara in brown, black/ brown on my fair eyebrows. It gives lovely defined eyebrows.

I use a Bobbi Brown eyeshadow on mine which works well. I'm always pleased with how well it lasts - I have quite oily skin, but it stays put all day long.

Smashbox brow tech in taupe with the corresponding angled brush is foolproof.

Which shade do you use WILLSINGFORCAKE ? Smile

I'm fair and have had cement or saddle recommended.
