Crochet dress

I bought a dress a couple of months ago, and am now massively regretting it. It's black wool, crochet style, so its got big holes all over it iyswim? About knee length with short sleeves.

Can't work out what to wear under it, so I've never worn it, which is driving me mad - it cost me about £40 and I really couldn't afford it anyway!

Please tell me what on earth i'm supposed to wear under it?! I guess tights and top, but won't they look stupid, because with it being a dress you'll be able to see the 'meet' in the middle iyswim?

Could you find a tight-ish, plain lbd that would fit exactly under it?

Or a slip? (Apologies for use of the word 'slip', I feel about 85 saying it and I'm sure there's a better word for what I mean but I can't think of it.)

Ooh that might work... could i layer coloured tights under it, with a cardi of some variety?

Would it look ok being black on black?

Can't really say as haven't seen dress but try on with coloured tights and see how it looks.

I might not be best person to ask, as I wear black a lot, but it's the only colour I'd think to put under it, so it it looks like one dress iyswim.
