My Ddd (11) has asked for new perfume for xmas. Her current perfume is cloying and sweet. I wandered round boots today but it's all expensive perfumes or too childish.

Recommendations please for a nice lotion and perfume set.

Elizabeth Arden fifth Avenue is really light and floral and clean smelling, not too adult or sexy. Or maybe one of the Body Shop ones? the Amazonian Lily or Japanese Cherry Blossom are both nice.

I would avoid anything spicy or Oriental, but something light and (non cloying) would be nice? or there's always Britney Spears- Curious is pretty but harmless.

I've just got my DD "Justin Biebers Girlfriend" not sure of the smell the title alone will float her boat. She did get Katy Perry's perfume for her Birthday, the bottle is the shape of a cat and she loves the smell.

Someone bought me a bottle of L'air du Temps by Nina Ricci for my 12th birthday and I've loved it ever since. It's a very light, floral fragrance.

I'd forgotten about L'air du temps - a name from my youth! Good suggestions now have to decide whether she's prefer celebrity perfumes or the others .

Prada Candy is a lovely sweet, girly fragrance but may be too pricey. Caramel and sweet musk in a trendy bottle. Body shop do a lovely Madagascan Vanilla which you can get body spray, creams etc to match.

I was given Shalimar when I was 14 as my first ever bottle of perfume and I still adore it to this day. May be a bit much for an 11 yr old though ...

When I was 11/ 12 I used to collect miniature perfume bottles. Could you buy her a set of miniatures like this? (except it has boaky LouLou in it)

I loved LouLou as a 16 yr old. Couldn't wear it now though

I would also go for a Body Shop perfume. I used to love Cassis Rose but not sure if they have it anymore.

What about one of the 'Grace' range of perfumes from Philosophy? They have a nice light clean smell.

Yes, Tommy Girl is all the rage with the teens apparently. I had a sniff recently and it's really nice and fresh, sort of a light floral.

I still love Tommy Girl and Ralph.

I'm 32.

CK shock is a nice light sense and jusding by how quick my ghost serenity does down, I'm guessing taht's pretty popular with 11 year olds too Hmm
