The Dress

I got the new Great Plains catalogue in the post today - you know, those mini ones with outfits grouped together, all looking lovely, to hook you in. Well, it's worked on me, as have seen a dress which I love! But would love the advice of you lovely ladies.

So, the dress is here

So, what I would like to know is:-

Has anyone got it, and is it as lovely in the flesh, and is it worth the money?
How does the sizing come up, and would it suit my shape? I am an apple, 14 up top, and 12 on hips, so would be getting their Large.

If you end up putting me off, all well and good, as I'm not sure my social life has £70 worth of mileage in it, but if it's good, then I guess over several years......

I humbly await the verdict of the MN S&B jury.....

Not much help but I think that looks lovely and am now tempted myself - will watch out for any feedback from existing owners too!

It's v nice - am never terribly impressed by the quality of GP stuff tbh though and they are often a bit shapeless looking irl.

Thanks for the replies.

That's interesting Remus - for £70 I want it to look v. good IRL!!

thought the same as remus really, nice dress but often quality is an issue. It did cross my mind to keep an eye on for the sale though. if you do order please let us know what it is like.

Thanks ruby but looking less likely now. TBH, I'm more likely to do as you suggest, and keep an eye out for the sales!

yy, agree with Remus- quality not great, although they do have massive reductions in the sales.

Do you like this? Quality is good and there's probably a code knocking around, which would make it the same price or less than the GP one. I haven't seen it irl yet but am going to check it out tomorrow!

And this is lovely irl, despite being polyester - and is an absolute bargain.

Thanks for those. The first one lacks the extra touch of the lace, and the M&S one is too lacy for me. However, I did see a similar one to the GP one in Per Una. Will link when not on phone still in bed

Can't believe I'm going to say that the Per Una one is lovely.

I don't like the great plains one. I think the twist is too low down and it would be more flattering if it was higher up, under the bust. I also think it looks a bit shapeless and baggy in places. It doesn't particularly suit the model, which always makes me wonder what chance everyone else has got! That said, it is the kind of thing that you need to see on, in order to be sure. You might be the right shape for it and it would look better on you than the model.

I love the Per Una one. Also can't quite believe I am typing that. Typical M&S - mountains of tat but the very occasional gem.

I think you would really have to try it on - I know for me personally, the twist would do me no favours and something more structured would be far more flattering. It's nice, but I think for that kind of money, there's something even nicer out there.

Just wanted to update for the benefit of MN.

I tried the Per Una dress linked to above on today, and it was awful!! Shapeless, saklike, and extremely unflattering!

Looks great on screen, but not so good in the flesh. Shame, but I guess you get what you pay for.............
